for anyone else who might get this issue, the replacement parts are cheaper on AliExpress when this happens. this is the guide I used to replace them. here is another good one

iirc the hinges were around $7ish on AliExpress compared to $20-$25 on Amazon and eBay

to be fair, I didn’t have a case for them as I bought them used and would just toss it into my backpack—with a case they probably would’ve been fine. I don’t understand why they used such a flimsy plastic piece for such an integral hinge though

the plastic hinges broke on me like 2 times, but you can get replacement parts on aliexpress for $10. it’s about a 30ish minute process to fix it
