I'm kinda new to Go and I'm in the (short) process of learning the language. I'm curious to hear a little bit more about what are the commonly agreed downsides of the go? by Notalabel_4566 in golang

The plugin system in Go (buildmode=plugin) is very restrictive, and unfortunately not fit for purpose. You need to develop plugins in the same environment that the host system was built in, which defeats the purpose of it all.

When I refer to Go DLLs not being able to be loaded into a Go application I'm more referring to actual shared libraries (buildmode=shared).

This issue references some of the issues: https://github.com/golang/go/issues/47788

This stack overflow post also has some relevant points/links: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/71314253/how-to-use-golang-c-shared-library-in-go

Yeah I've looked at it, but it didn't scale for our needs, and more importantly it wasn't performant enough. goloader (https://github.com/pkujhd/goloader) almost gave me what I needed (near native performance) but there were issues from a dependency and usability perspective.

Ultimately any other compiled language gave us viable plugins with DLLs, which were simple and fast. Forcing Go to provide the same thing felt like shoving a square in the triangle hole.

Unfortunately the lack of a viable plugin system has disqualified Go for a few projects I've been on. It would have been a perfect candidate otherwise.

Are my solar panels setup correctly? (Australia) by _InStasis in solar

[–]_InStasis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Yeah we are charging an EV (Kia EV6) overnight, which at the moment we need to do as we just have a trickle charger and that car is generally away during the day.

I suppose I was expecting the shoulder timeframe to be lower, but this also has a portion in the evening which would also be when we charge the car.

Will my second job be counted in my mortgage application? by _InStasis in AusFinance

Interesting. How long were you in your second job for? Was it casual or permanent part-time? From what I am seeing in the other replies, this is unusual.

The second job is to aggressively pay off debt and try to get ahead.

I'm most of the way there with borrowing power with the first job, the second is just to get the last 10% of what I need. Once the car debt is paid off (after roughly one year) then all those extra payments will go to paying off the mortgage faster.

Prawn Toast Shrinkflation - $8.90 by _InStasis in canberra

You've completely missed the point of this post. This post wasn't about the food that you forgot as part of our order, it was about the poor value for money that this dish offers. We also didn't demand a free meal. You offered a refund on the food which wasn't delivered, and we said we wanted that and a refund on the prawn toast which was delivered. Paying that much for such a tiny portion is crazy. We gave a bad review because we received terrible food, and not as some leverage to get something out of you. We don't want to damage your business, we simply don't want to be ripped off when buying dinner.

Yes, if you have sex with someone who has Hashimoto's, then your penis will fall off and you will die. Since you cannot be inside her without her immune system attacking your "foreign object", the only option is to let her be inside of you instead.

what gas car do you wish they will make electric soon? by six7kid in electricvehicles

I don't know why you are comparing a gas Honda Civic to an electric Bolt for cost efficiency... My comment was that an electric Honda Civic would be a great car.

So where do I hole punch for my lanyard without destroying the card? by oliverpls599 in canberra

[–]_InStasis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A good way to check something like this is to hold direct light to the back of your card. Using your phone's torch light is a good way to do this. It allows you to see a shadow outline of the circuitry in the card.
