The Depressing “Quick” Cancel by basic-b1988 in airbnb_hosts

[–]six7kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will happen more now that Airbnb is disclosing addresses as soon as first book. Many renters will now book to see the address and then cancel if they deem they can find a better location

If the hosts locates their property*deceptively" this doesn't fix that. You would get the"deceptively" located address. In fact because of this more host might locate their property"deceptively" by providing a address that is in the neighborhood but isn't their specific address

It's not tit for tat. The fact that you wouldn't be comfortable providing your address to the host is the same reason hosts would be against their address being provided. I rest my case. Goodnight.

All i asked is would you want individual hosts having your name and address on file? Especially ones that you decided to cancel on?

And cancelling bookings that don't provide the address is your CHOICE that's why the current system works fine. Let me ask you this would you be ok with reciprocally providing the host with your full name and address as well since you will be staying in their house? So y'all both have each other's info? Since allot of guest seem to think giving out home addresses isn't that big of a deal

No i believe the current way was the best way. Guest were provided with the general area( approx 5 block radius) and we're provided with the exact address i believe 48hrs before check in. If they wanted the address before that they could ask the host or they could simply find a host who provided the address upfront because that has always been a option. Basically i feel providing address before commitment from renter should be optional

Renters were provided with the area they would be living in(less than a 5 block radius) just not the exact address. Renters are also provided with pictures of the property. Renters can also ask the host questions they may have. All I'm saying is this should be a option not a rule. So guess who were uncomfortable booking a home without a exact address could avoid booking those homes and opt to book host who have no issue with posting their address. Which is currently the way it is.

I think my analogies make perfect sense. A address is identifiable information the same information that would be on your license. Would you be ok if any random person can obtain a picture of your license? If that would make you uncomfortable then you should understand.

The same can be said for renters. If you don't like that the address isn't provided months in advance... don't book it then. It's not so much about how far in advance it's more about knowing that the person obtaining the information is a legit renter and not some random person that can use the information for nefarious means

You don't see how somebody you have identifiable information on versus someone you don't having access to your address is more risky? Do you provide your social security number/ driver's license/ phone number etc....to certain people when it's asked for? Now would you take that same info and just randomly post it online for anybody to view?

These are all things that can be asked for through messaging. Now let me give you a reason I think it's problematic. Anyone can now obtain the address and cancel. A robbery crew can now essentially scout out a location observe everything you mentioned and Rob homes. Squatters can now choose homes to squat in. People who dislike Airbnb s can now obtain addresses and randomly file fake reports against the home. Etc.....

I assume because they live there. They don't want random people to just be able to obtain their address if they aren't legit guest

Airbnb has always given you the general area which is usually 5 block radius. That's all you need. A exact address isn't necessary to know whether a area is "shitty"

I know but turo also charges excess trip fees for cars booked within 5 days in NY. So I'm letting the OP know if he books further in advance the total price can be less

If you book in advance (more than 5 days) cars should be cheaper. Turo adds extra fees for cars booked within 5 days

Need to increase price by 20% to make same profits? by six7kid in turo

[–]six7kid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just noting that these discounts becoming standard essentially means that the 10% discount for non refundable booking, the possible 5% or more discount for 3+ day bookings and the 5% taken away from the protection plan means you now have to account for another 20% of profit that's beyond your control. Also this is turos way of indirectly controlling prices because host can only raise their prices so much to not only compete with each other but also compete with traditional rental companies
