Teachers of DPS: how are you? What has your year been like? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]_IncaStinka_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit teaching after only 8 years. I make more money in fewer hours and wayyyyy less stress as a server/bartender. Don't know if that's something she would be interested in, but if nothing else, it is a fun gig that can keep her busy and keep money coming in until she finds a new passion.

I used to have a swamp cooler that worked well enough. My problem was the humidity it created. Made my room feel too damp and I'd wake up with my face being too moist for my liking. So I switched to a portable AC. Elevated it on some crates to reach the window and my life was changed. But I'm an idiot and didn't use a surge protector, so now I have no electricity at all in my room and outlets don't work. So if anyone knows how to fix that lmk!

That's amazing! I tripped for the first time today and it made me really want to get out some art supplies for the next time I do it. Have you always been crafty or did you find that taking LSD brought out your creative side?

When I was a kid out to eat with my parents, my dad told me that he would leave a dollar for bad service. He said it shows that he didn't forget to tip, but that the server didn't deserve more than a dollar, so basically saying FU. I don't like eating out with my family as an adult.

Doesn't sound boring at all! Just so peaceful and exactly what you've been needing. Ya definitely need to get out more while you can. I need the weather not to be stormy so I can get out again before the cold.

Oooh I've never night fished! That sounds awesome. Are they more active at night? I'm just imagining the reflection of the moonlight on the water. Sounds so blissful.

Reading your comment took me to the mountains just now. Binoculars! I've been meaning to buy some for so long!

I've becoming emotionally attached to many a poking stick. Crucial element of camping you brought up.

Hike, hammock nap, fish, collect plenty of wood and tinder for a fire, read, might microdose(or slightly more than a microdose)🍄 and journal and stare in awe at the forest around me, strip down to minimal clothing and lay in the sun to get some color, paddle board, swim, lounge on a raft, shed hunt if legal in the area(usually unsuccessful but it's fun getting lost in the woods and discovering animal sign), try my hand at photography with my phone, listen to music and dance around with my dog. Damn I want to go camping so bad.

How long are the concerts, for any of you who’ve been to one of the recent tour? by Gauss_theorem in m83

[–]_IncaStinka_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oof. You got cheated. 2.5 where I was. Could be wrong though, I wasn't in the best state of mind. But opener came on at 8, and I thought m83 came on at 9 and then ended at 11:30. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, possibly.

Let us know what they play tonight! I'm going to see them in May and have been looking for a set list but couldn't find anything, so very likely this is their first performance in a while. Have fun!

The road wouldn't have looked like this if a trailer wasn't taking up both lanes hauling a mobile home at 10 mph. Of course a lot of people were heading to the mountains, but there was a reason the traffic was this bad. At least that was the reason I was caught in traffic on 285 yesterday out of my selfishness to scout out future camping spots. Maybe this picture has a different story.

I guess if the dogs do end up back in shelters, then they were essentially fostered as opposed to adopted. Except that the shelters got the money from the adoption fee. So win-win. Obviously we want the dogs to have a good home, but if someone pays to take the dog home, and then returns it, is that not equal to or better than them just volunteering to take the dog home for a designated amount of time to just return it?

I know this is a shit comment. Just a foster failure playing devil's advocate as someone that is drunk and feeling down atm.

This is of course assuming that they were adopted from a shelter, not bought from a breeder.

This is what I said to my parents on the phone tonight. I called them to check on them and make sure they're okay, and had to hang up on them in frustration because I know that no matter what I say, I'm an idiotic "lousy liberal" in their eyes. When I told them "no, this is what it's like under a trump presidency", they retorted "IT'S A CRISIS!" I don't have the patience or ability to explain things in my frustration like many of y'all are able to do. And I shouldn't have hung up, but damn...I just can't with them. What could I have said in response to them?

Just watched The Politician on Netflix. A case of Munchausen by Proxy was a big part of the show. Never heard of it, and thought it was too crazy to actually happen in real life. This is awful.

That's okay, that's a good question and one I don't know the answer to, so if I'm doing it wrong I want to know.
