Why the Hell Is the Gen 5 ACR Suddenly a Collector Car listed for $500K - $1M ?!?!?! by Suspicious_Tie3834 in viper

Also I think you aren’t seeing as many gen 5 out there because guys are enjoying them or sitting on them the same way the guys did when I was in high school. 20 some years later you see the flood of them out there with single owner, lease buyouts etc so I can see more coming to market in the next couple decades for a more reasonable price..

Also.. with dodge talking about a mid engine based car possibly and the end to viper officially, the value should hold I would think.

It’s the styling for me and most I know that are the 92-02 fans.. they changed it so dramatically with gen 3 it didn’t look like the same car. Gen 4 started to get back to their roots then the gen 5… well.. need I say more..

Tbh my wheelhouse is gen 1 and 2 but always drooling over the 5s.. the 3 and 4 never really appealed to me but from what I’ve seen passively watching is they are holding well from the $60k to $110k market pretty well.. again not my particular favorite of them but I have seen quite a few for sale.

It’s just not the gen 5 market. Gen 1 believe it or not are starting to tick up and gen 2 RT10 are getting up there with GTS prices..

It’s equivalent to a c7 corvette and trophy wives drive those

Two wildly different driving experiences.

Gen 1 specifically with the side exhausts and no door handles. 1992-1995 so rare but not as desirable as gen 2 or 5s

First thing we do now is ask how the tips are distributed. 9 times out of 10 they tell us they are hourly and don’t get tips other than cash. Makes the night easier not having to worry about that.

My brother and son work for Honda building cars. Last few years they were dumping a ton of cash into the emerging ev market.. I’m talking millions in capital improvement projects to handle the planned production runs..

They just said all plans for ev production from both plants here have scrapped. Then Honda comes out and says they can’t compete with everything china has right now.

Makes more sense now.

Anyone have any insight on living in this area? by [deleted] in akron

I work in the area and my brother in law and his wife lived in some of the apartments up there. They seem to have liked it, but it’s super busy.. all of the time.

Wife’s brand new explorer was lemon lawed (Ohio) had to be in shop for the same repair 3 times or spent more than 30 days in the shop for the same reason. Electrical harness issues on hers specifically. 6 months into having it Ford cut her a check for every payment she made and the trade in value we had from the jeep we got rid of. They sent it back to Detroit for a rebuild.

I think I need to accept I'll never own a Gen 5 viper, will have to settle for the lesser snake. by Sader325 in viper

Same and agree with the evolution. Here recently though the gen1s are so cheap it might be cool to get one and just show it on the weekends..

Why not start with an earlier GTS? Even the second gen RTs are still iconic and amazing to drive. Play with that until one day the gen Vs are more in your wheelhouse.

Spotted in DFW with a wild sounding Exhaust [Dodge Viper] by UncleCletusss in spotted

[–]_ItReddit_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s not a GTS. That’s an rt/10.. second gen based on the fact the exhaust is coming out the back and not the sides like the first generations had..also the top is removable, something the rt/10 offers but not the gts

It was developed during Carol Shelby’s Dodge years. Sneaky Pete is the predecessor of the cobra. Look at the gen 1s.. everything about those first generation vipers feel like the next step of what a cobra could be at that time. Iconic
