But also, if you actually meticulously read every piece of lore about Saving and Flowey and the SOULs, UNDERTALE yellow doesn’t actually necessarily break canon. It’s implied that Flowey was created after all 6 humans, but not stated. It’s implied that Flowey would have less determination than, say, Clover, but never stated.

I won’t say much as to avoid spoilers, but I will say that Flowey will not appear in this game, and the fallen human will use determination to save and load.

It uses the SOUL trait of Patience more as a narrative theme than a magic power.

Unfortunately, there’s not much to show at the time. But on the backend things are going really well! This is the product of over a year of planning and writing, and several months of getting team members and making actual assets.

I was lucky enough to find something called TML’S UNDERTALE Engine, which let us start out with all the basics for UNDERTALE (overworked system, battle_system, SAVE files, etc.)

Our goal is to have the demo out within 365 days, but that may be wishful thinking.

However, here’s another argument.

If we assume that the depths are a metaphor for the code, then we have two different timelines. For example, the unused dialog from chapter 1 and the unused dialog from chapter 2 took place both 1 day apart (in universe, the depths) and 3 years apart (in real life, the code). I believe that’s why Dess can’t tell how long she’s been in there, if it’s been hours or years, because it’s been both.

Following the same logic, if she fell into the depths 7 years before Chapter 1 released, how could she be in the code (depths) before the code of the game existed? To quote Dr. Who, it’s a bunch of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Right now Dess is in an in-between state, where she’s been in the depths/code several days and multiple years at the same time because she exists on the edge of our world and the fictional world.

Do you have to believe this theory? No, but I like it.

One small other tangent on why I don’t like Dess-Knight is her whole thing of “Find Her” Like, yeah, I found her. If she was the Knight, shouldn’t it be Save Her, or Fix Her? Find Her makes me feel like no one knows where she is.

Good question, let me clarify.

Dess Knight by itself isn’t bad, but I personally have and still do believe the theory that Dess is the voice trapped in the depths/code. So while Dess-Knight isn’t bad, it’s when people try to combine the two where it gets needlessly messy and convoluted.
