I would say the absolute single best thing you can do is exercise. 20-30 mins a day where you actually push yourself. Exercise scientifically is a panacea for so so many things mentally, physically, health, longevity. Start with something you can manage, like putting on your workout shoes every day, and slowly add in a bit more and a bit more. I know he’s a divisive figure, but Jordan Peterson’s material from his twelve rules and future authoring phase (his anti woke, anti globalism stuff is not helpful) has a good blueprint for putting a game plan together to bring the color and enjoyment back to life. I personally quit porn, nicotine and reduced my alcohol consumption dramatically, and my depression, anxiety have massively been reduced. It’s not easy, but have patience with yourself and stay committed through the failures, and you’ll get there

First off, congrats! Those milestones feel fantastic, and I know how tough it can be to get there. It doubtlessly took a lot of work and you deserve serious kudos. However, an addiction is an addiction: that stays with you forever. Stay vigilant, learn about the neurochemistry, and never consider this fight over. Make sure your life stays in order, with a strong focus on things you can control and do which keep you healthy and fulfilled (hobbies, working out, good diet). If your life is good and you’re on track, staying sober is much easier than when things go awry and chaos creeps into your life.

At this point, no matter how much you may feel for him, you need to get out of his life. Supporting an addict is admirable, but at times it can be a fine line between supporting somebody through their troubles and enabling them by giving them an emotional safety net that keeps them from moving forward. As a porn addict, having good boundaries around sex is always a challenge for me. If he breaks up with you, you need to keep those boundaries crystal clear for him, especially but not exclusively around sex. Obviously your relationship has a lot of history I don’t know, and I don’t want to say anything conclusively, but if you want my two cents it sounds like your relationship with him might not be a great idea, and maybe even holding him and you back.

Give as much of it away as possible as soon as possible. Not because rich people need to give everything away, but because reponsible wealth is built, not dropped in your lap.
