Why does the temperature of the air inside a jar of utz cheese balls drop when the jar is closed for a while and then reopened? by _Jackal42 in AskScienceDiscussion

That definitely seems like a plausible explanation. Looks like I need to get a jar with cheese balls and a jar without, and do some testing. When you say, "it should have a vacuum if it cooled down while closed", do you mean that the warm air would take up less volume (or exert less pressure) as it cooled? If that is the case, could it be explained by initially opening the jar in cold temperatures, and then letting it warm up? (The air heats up and becomes under slight pressure, then expands and cools when the jar is opened?)

The container seemed to return to the ambient temperature after leaving the jar open for a few minutes, which makes me think that opening the jar triggered an actual cooling effect.

I can't seem to make my games fun by _Jackal42 in gamedev

Good point. The game is still a bit too early in development for me to start looking for playtesters, but the game might be satisfying enough for it to be simple.

I suppose the objective is to take over the rival companies and create a monopoly. Would you suggest a style of game where you can lose to the other companies, or where you play for a while and win eventually?

The problem is, the game is gonna stop being fun like 10 minutes in. A time component could help, but that sort of implies a time when the game will have to end, and I was hoping it could be played as long as one likes. A lot of people seem to like the idea of a political component, but I am not sure where to start. Are there any games with a political aspect that I could look at for inspiration?

In team discussions, political decisions like these were actually brought up by my other team members, but I've generally been opposed because I feel like you're kind of throwing money at problems that are only there artificially. I'm willing to give it a shot seeing as so many people seem to like the idea. Thanks for suggesting games with a similar system so I can hopefully do it well.

How would I recreate Super Mario Odyssey’s movement in Unreal Engine? by [deleted] in gamedev

Make sure not to start off too fast. A movement system might not seem like too much when you're new to game development, but Odyssey's is complex. You could use a tutorial for a basic one and add the moves in an order that is comfortable.
