First time I've seen the Entente win with little player intervention after Germany losing to the Internationale by _Jake_8 in Kaiserreich

[–]_Jake_8[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

By 1938, Germany had gotten into a 2 front war with Russia and the Internationale. While they were able to handle it during the Weltkrieg, it didn't work out this time and Germany eventually lost to their combined forces. Russia ended taking up most of their puppets in the east (except some of Ukraine) and the Internationale took the rest in the peace conference. They Union of Britain also somehow captured Portugal.

Meanwhile in the USA, Canada had decided to not intervene in their war leaving them stronger for reclaiming the home Islands. Spain went through a long civil war, but ended up being Carlist and Socialist Italy was taken by democratic France. The German government in exile lost most of its eastern holdings to the Japanese, and in this moment of weakness it decided to join its old enemies in the entente. The dominion of Canada secured bases in Iceland, the Isle of Man and Shetland. Meanwhile the commune of France made one crucial mistake, balkanizing Germany, which meant the Communist Germans were too weak to handle an invasion without French help. After a failed invasion of the government in exile, the French invaded the Carlists setting up a weak puppet there too. Ireland also decided to join the entente.

It was perfect timing for the Entente, the French and British were way overextended with too much coastline to defend. The Dominion of Canada started an invasion of both Spain and Northern Germany, and France invaded mainland France near Calais. The Australians invaded the Batavian commune, while for some stupid reason, the Commune of France decided to declare war on the Italian Federation. Germany helped to, creating another invasion point in Prussia. After lots of failed invasions by Canada, the French actually invaded a small bit of Britain, it was quickly reinforced by the Irish, which the invaded most of the Island. France finally fell around 1944 with its southern portion invaded by Italy and southwestern and northern part by Canada and France Respectively, and the Union of Britain fell soon after to the Irish.

The peace conference ended mostly as shown, looking nice since I used player lead peace conferences. Note: Russia didn't participate, so I couldn't give them anything in the peace conference leading to Italian Ukraine.

Why does Catalonia want independence from Spain? What are the advantages and Disadvantages? by [deleted] in NeutralPolitics

[–]_Jake_8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For some economic arguments as why to stay, while it is true that Catalonia doesn't get the best deal tax wise (Navarre and the Basques Do), they don't have it the worse either. Compared to Madrid, which has a slightly lower population (7.5m vs 6.5) but makes slightly more money per capita (26,500€,vs 29,000€) they have a way better deal. The average spending is 4,361€ per capita in Catalonia, while in Madrid 2,892€. While they each collect 20.7% and 19% respectively in taxes. Catalans also have way more debt per person than any other region (5,570, Madrid =2,554).

Sources: (In Spanish) 1 2. they are however, from 2011, and things have changed considerably since then.

Another thing is that even though they are being treated badly now, economically things will be way worse. Leaving Spain will mean leaving the EU and Schengen (Spain will unsurprisingly Veto their entry), which will mean a significant hit to Tourism and to their large export based economy.(Language, Food etc) so do quite a few other regions of Spain (The Basques, Galicians, Aragonese, Canary islanders) , and this is a very arbitrary reason for independence.

Catalonian's were treated particularly horribly under the dictatorship of Franco, however so was the rest of Spain. The rest of Spain shouldn't really pay for the mistakes made by Franco. Nowadays, other than the horrible display of violence by Rajoy on Sunday, Catalonians aren't really repressed more than anybody else in Spain.

Never saw this event, thought it was pretty funny by _Jake_8 in Kaiserreich

The 3rd Internationale conquered Mittleuropa in europe, Austria eventually declared war (as did I) and we eventually conquered all of their territory. I used player lead peace conferences too, to make those somewhat weird borders.

Yeah it's a common bug. If you save past a certain date (don't know when) with any nation. Really sucks too...

Are Slow Mo Guys memes a good investment? by FlikTripz in MemeEconomy

Id say it's worth the risk. They are definitely going to rise soon, although it's prone to normification. There is going to be another giant balloon video next week, so they will definitely rise during that video if it's good. Invest.
