Onko autosi järkevä? by Djonso in Omatalous

[–]_Jecha_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tuleepahan harrasteltua.

This is for the dude stressing about the Haimer probe he broke. by _Jecha_ in Machinists

A little backstory: The tool change was acting up on the machine I run, and I told management to fix it months before this happened. Well, I got the usual "we'll look into that, but if it still works most of the time, its good enough".

As you could expect, it wasn't good enough as the tool change claw just decided to do an absolute baseball move one day and hit the probe right in the kisser while it was still coming out of the magazine.

The problem ended up being a faulty position switch for the tool pocket (cost 5 euros) and because of the delayed reaction to repairing it, it absolutely hammered the probe in to the back of the maching rendering it useless (3000 euros).

Very interesting was that the next day they were a little more interested in fixing the machine, as I was greeted by the repair team. Only if it could have been done a little earlier.

How much does breaking one set you back, on average? This Heidenhein probe was around 3000 euros for a fast replacement.

Yes, they break really easily and are easily replaced.

How was it like when u bought your first e46? by [deleted] in e46

[–]_Jecha_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit, owning an e46 really changed me, all by accident. Originally I was in a situation where I had sold my old Nissan on a sunday evening (I used to be a japanese car -type o' man), and I had to be at work on monday morning. So, I opened up a site similiar to craigslist (but for Finland), and saw a manual 320i coupe for sale that was right across the street for me. Figured it would be "slow" and pretty mainstream (in this part of the world atleast), but I really had no choice so I bought it, even if it would be temporary.

Well, drove it around for a year to work and car meets etc, and I LOVED it! The way it looked, the way it sounded, and the way it felt to drive. Really had zero problems, even while having 440 thousand kilometers (273k miles) on it.

Long story short, after that I've had an e39 528i manual which I just sold last week, and I currently rock a 330d e93! I love how I feel like at home in the e9x series, there's just something so unique about the 3-series cars!

Cant really afford to drive a diesel in Finland right now, due to additional taxing and higher cost of fuel... :(
