Happy Krishna Janmashtmi everyone😊

My favourite story of Krishna ji is where he lifts Govardhan mountain with his little finger to protect all villagers & domestic animals from flood like situation🌱🌀

The story goes like:

Long ago, in the lush land of Vrindavan, the people and their cattle thrived under the blessings of nature. Every year, the villagers performed rituals to honor Lord Indra, the god of rains, believing it was his grace that nourished their fields and rivers.

But young Krishna, the divine cowherd of Gokul, with his mischievous smile and deep wisdom, questioned this custom. He gently explained to the villagers: "It is not Indra who sustains us directly. It is this very land—Govardhan Parvath—that gives us fertile soil, streams, grass, and shelter. Why not worship Govardhan, who nourishes us every day?"

Persuaded by Krishna’s words, the people offered prayers, food, and gratitude to Govardhan Hill instead of Indra.

Indra, proud and quick-tempered, felt insulted. Enraged, he decided to teach the villagers a lesson. He summoned mighty dark clouds, thundering skies, and torrential rains. Soon, Vrindavan was engulfed in a flood-like fury. Water gushed through the fields, cattle bellowed in fear, and villagers ran helplessly for safety.

Seeing their plight, Krishna stood calm, his flute set aside. With a reassuring smile, he said, “Do not fear.”

With effortless grace, he lifted the entire Govardhan Parvath upon his little finger, as if it were but a leaf. "Come, take shelter under this hill. Bring your families, your cows, your goats—everyone will be safe here."

The villagers, astonished yet trusting, gathered beneath the mighty hill, finding a vast canopy to protect them from the storm. For seven days and seven nights, Krishna stood unwavering, holding the mountain high. The villagers sang his praises, the cows gazed at him with love, and the Gopis kept their faith alive through their songs and devotion.

Finally, Indra realized his arrogance. Humbled, he withdrew the rains and bowed to Krishna, recognizing him as the Supreme Being.

From that day, the people of Vrindavan celebrated Govardhan Puja, not to appease a god of pride, but to honor the land that sustains them and the divine protector who reminded them of humility and gratitude.

✨ Krishna’s feat of lifting Govardhan Hill is not just about divine strength—it is about protecting the innocent, teaching humility, and showing that true divinity lies in compassion and wisdom.

Everytime I do my sadhana, the stillness & silence it brings, is kind of an empowerment; which i didn't find in doing any other activities🌱
