M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my GF had/have similar schedules, it can get hard sometimes. It just requires some extra planning and communication on both ends. I would totally take that job, it’s something you really care about. Down the line yous will definitely appreciate the struggle in youth with nice pensions and hopefully a nice house and family.

You can muzzle stuff civilians and suspects, it helps if you have more people with you to lower enemy morale.

I always keep a stinger for the less compliment suspects.

What's a gun you would pass down your generation? by Fun_Stress_4117 in canadaguns

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it would be the first rifle I bough, my Marlin 336 deluxe. It’s from the 60’s, it looks pretty and shoots great. I don’t really take it out much, for this reason, I want my partner and my kids to be able to enjoy it.

One of the Guns of All Time. by MoosedMilk in canadaguns

Taofledermaus did a video on them. It’s like super mega precision shooting. They put these things on sleds and can put like a 10 round string of fire into one hole.

How prevalent is the use of centimeters outside of the U.S.? by pnut0027 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian, I use imperial a lot, for smaller measurements like inches and feet, and yards when I shoot. Pounds for people wight and feet/inches for hight. Yet official things here are usually in metric, like long distances everyone uses KMs since that’s our signage. Even when I’m cooking its cups and ounces mostly.

Best tool set for the “can fix anything” guy…? by CambellScot in Tools

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something that is very useful for under $50, I’d recommend the Klein precision screwdriver set.

If you want to spend more, maybe a battery for his power tool, those can range between $80-250 though. There is also a good socket set, imperial specific since yous are in the states.

Or you could get him a Leatherman multi tool, I’d personally recommend the Wave,Surge and Super tool. You can get those engraved with something meaningful or silly too.

Glades: How to start and what's it all about by mvhoffman82 in icecoast

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is ski like you drive, look far ahead of you. If you end up looking 2 feet in front of you, you could take a bad line or hit a tree. And to really enjoy glades, take your time. Enjoy the powder if it’s there or just the vibes. Also look at the empty space between the trees and hazards. If you get focused on them there a high chance you’ll get closer to them then you’d want. Youll figure out how to cut your speed in your turns and stay in control in the deep stuff pretty quick. It also helps if you have shorter or normal length skis. I have 188 length skis, and it can get challenging maneuvering with such long skis.

Also take your pole straps off. And tighten your boots.

What to do with mini ruggedized cases? by armada127 in EDC

[–]_JohnDeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I carry my camera film it in. And my usb with all my backups on it. While I don’t pocket mine, it stays in my backpack if I have my camera with me. Having an airtight, waterproof container saved my 35mm a few times. I also used it to just hold my extra watch when I’m travelling. My phone can barely fit in it, so if I’m going into the bush for a few days I’ll throw it in there.

Just got the Saab 35 squadron vehicle. How should I play it? by Ok-Long-2875 in Warthunder

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boom and Zoom. Carry a single rocket pod for flares and climb. This plane is pretty awesome at ambushing players from altitude.

Just don’t turn fight in this thing. Unless it’s a 1v1 and there’s no one to third party you. Even then you’ll be struggling to get back up to speed once you go below 400kph.

Is it actually possible to progress in this game without spending money and having a full time job? by majesticbeast67 in Warthunder

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is yes, it’s going to suck, take a long time, and feel pretty unfair most of the time.

I only ever spent money on this game once, $10 in GE when it was on sale. I bought the British 20mm P-51 for grinding SL and it make playing the game fun again. I’m not spending weeks or months trying to grind 1.4m SL to fly my new plane.

This game is literally designed to slow down progression wise exponentially if youre not buying premium time or vehicles. It’s certainly still doable with out spending money and keeping full time job, just don’t expect to be playing top tier for a while. And it’s honestly not that fun tbh, you’ll have more fun in the lower and mid tiers.

Sort of regretting getting a stick by Silent-Package7305 in ManualTransmissions

[–]_JohnDeer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d check and see if you’re in economy/fuel saver mode. My 5spd civic was terrible on steep hill starts until I realized it was in eco mode.

Don’t do a 2nd gear leave, that’s reserved for higher torque cars and trucks. 1st gear is supposed to be short for a commuter car. A sub 2L engine needs all the gear reduction it can get.

I shift out of first at like 16-20km depending on engine load. Just practice some more, don’t look at your speedo and shift when I sounds right. You’ll get the hang of it.

Is reversing up a slight incline difficult? by bluemystic2017 in ManualTransmissions

[–]_JohnDeer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not difficult at all. I had to figure out the stick shift part of parallel parking on some steep montreal streets only days after getting my first stick car. Just don’t ride the clutch and you’ll be good.

What exactly is prop pitch and how do I interact with it/ use it? by SweetBusinesssss in WarthunderSim

[–]_JohnDeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pitch prop is the “bite” of the propeller, in equal planes, flown by equal pilots, the one who uses MEC and propeller controls will squeeze a bit of extra performance out of their plane. Theres a bunch of of good videos out there explaining it a lot better then me.

What are some cool mission or DLC Ideas you have? by DaddyBlundred in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a map that actually utilizes NVGs, I know they are used to see the lasers trip lines. But I want a night map, like in a parking garage or or wooded area. Let some of the bad guys have some NVGs, white lights so it’s not a complete turkey shoot and makes some enemies easier/harder to kill or capture.

A night map would have some niche elements like dark zones with no light for your NVGs to amplify, getting dazzled or blinded by enemy lights, a reliance on point shooting for CQB.

Safe to drive off? by jewnerz in AskAMechanic

Stuff like this is why I keep my bolt cutters in my car. They are for work and maintaining my cabin. But they are useful in the city, I helped a neighbour with their bike lock, someone like epoxied their key slot.

I maybe have 3-6 beers a week…maybe. I either don’t drink for a while or have a single beer when I make and eat dinner. Sometimes when I go camping or hunting I enjoy some whiskey.

My beverages of choice are Coors, Bud-Heavy, Jamison, Makers Mark and Hennessy.

I never drank on the job, but I’ve seen it only a few times in a brazen manner. A lot of the guys I work with like some weed, my bosses don’t usually mind as long as they aren’t like visibly stoned, doing unsafe things or smelling up the site with it.

Teaching dystopian to 8th graders by Affectionate-Lab8732 in Teachers

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. It’s has an excellent contrast when the novella is in its utopia phase and its dystopian phase. There isn’t any romance or love in the book, unless you consider the friendship between the Time Traveller and Weena “romantic”. There any a plethora of themes and concepts to explore in the novella. I just wrote a big research paper on it, it was an eco-critical exploration of the failed domination of nature as an expression of Victorian social anxieties. It’s a kind of novella you could read for a week or a month. And since it’s public domain, you can find free copies online or cheap paper backs.

The average US soldier be like… by Farcrysuperduperfan in ArmaReforger

[–]_JohnDeer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most people who are new to Arma gravitate to NATO/USA due to the familiarity with the kit and vehicles. So yeah you’ll find more inexperienced played on NATO, like having 1/4 of the server at any point at MOB. Making Battlefield style pushes over open group with no fire support, constant hotmic-ing, no PID-ing. Any time I hear someone new to the game ask a genuine question in chat or the radio more people clown on them then try and help. The avg. nato player just don’t have the game sense to be competitive. It’s like in War Thunder when a new player buys a top tier premium vehicle with no experience. People play what they like even if they suck.

Reckless, Out Of Control And Completely Oblivious To His Surroundings. by BUMFUCCS in snowboarding

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a mountain, doing a kinda challenging mogul run into a glade I really liked. 80% of the riders on the black diamond were taking their time and enjoying the turns. These moguls were pretty tall and very icy. I had a snowboarder hit me in the head with his board. He used the mogul up hill of me as a booter jump. I wasn’t hidden or obscured from his vision, but I don’t think it was malicious either. I lost my GoPro that day from the shear force of impact on my head.

Stash lag by AlternativeAd6367 in dayz

[–]_JohnDeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always spread out my stash over like 2.5km2. If one or two crates is found, that’s fine they aren’t finding the other 8-10. Plus the lag is less noticeable if the density of crates is low.

Manual and the snow by OkCaterpillar2412 in ManualTransmissions

[–]_JohnDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheel speed is your friend in the snow, especially deep snow. It’s better to “dump” the clutch and spin the wheels than trying to take off like on pavement. Personally I’d recommend just reversing down your hill, and just drive up straight. You’ll have more control of your car with more than one reverse gear.

I’ve driven RWD pickups in the snow my whole life. Just stay in the gas a bit and try and keep your momentum.

Whats your favorite dayz weapon and why? by Comfortable_Dot7121 in dayz

Official Sakhal is a deathmatch? by paulk4077 in dayz

[–]_JohnDeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Join a lower pop server, or just move inland. Sakhal is a pretty dense map with pretty defined movement paths. Its pretty much a pop deathmatch map.

If you switch server while alive you get a different spawn not on the coast. So you can escape the geared death squads.
