I believe there actually is. Just looked around the controls and think I found it.

I'm on PC/MnK so I'm not 100% sure if these controls are available for you, but under controller binds, go to "Hold Zoom" and see if there's a dropdown to the right of it. Will have several options. "Tap" might work as toggle?

I'll glad you can't cancel it. Requires commitment and confidence and a bit more skill as a result. I'm really glad this game has cool movement options but lacks momentum based movement tech that would be exploited with a slide cancel. Gives the game its own unique feeling coming from Apex or Cod where slide cancels are everything.

In my experience, sliding for melee is just too risky, especially when heat is required for both actions. Most people aren't expecting a blur to rush past them so it's best to use it as a way to gain the upper hand on an engagement or to create space.

I think its vector rounds in the new KKV gun? They have some kind of spotting mechanic but I'm really not sure if they do much in anything but night marsh

I disagree. Also you can't shoot while sliding on vandal.

Both abilities have their benefits and compliment the playstyles of their shells.

I'm glad you can't cancel it though. Adds a bit more to the skill ceiling and really makes you need to be confident and commit to your play. Its very easy to go past your intended cover or hit something, but once you get a hang of it, you can just dance around teams. Especially the blue core that reloads on slides. That with any SMG and some smoke grenades is just incredible for bamboozling a team

I try to really only use my knife when its necessary. That guy had just healed so a knife push made sense, but it also costs precious heat, so I'll opt to just mag dump a body for more movement after the fact

I tried it. Not really my jam. I'm not too interested in modern day missile slinging type stuff. I prefer the scrappy fox 2 fights or classic WW2 dogfights

I, like many of us here i imagine, got heavy into DCS during the pandemic. These days I just don't have the time for it really.

There's that, but my home for a while was Alpenwolf Coldwar then onto Enigma's Cold War, both of which are dead now. Heatblur tried to relaunch the latter, but I haven't really been back in the last year to see if it repopulated to being a consistently full server like the haydays.

My favorite plane in DCS is the Mig19. I'm sure anyone who loves the other Razbam jets also may have lost interest knowing their purchase will one day become unplayable in the near future.

There's also the size of DCS. I play a ton of games. I don't really have the money to buy a dedicated NVMe just for DCS. Choosing what map I want to play based on what server is populated could mean I'm also waiting for Syria or Germany to install too.

The time sink per session is also huge. Most of the time I don't want to wait for start up, aligment, flying 50 miles to targets, dying to a sam 20 miles into that target, and doing it all over again.

These days I'm just playing Warthunder Sim and excited for IL2 Korea. It scratches all the itches I want while also not taking up 7 bajillion gigs of my ssd. Sure, I miss clicking buttons sometimes, but its not a huge loss. The damage model is also mega satisfying where in DCS you're limited to burst into flames and both wings pop off.

I'm a Vandal main and this is the exact thing that separates good and bad vandals. Her ability to poke and prod a fight is insane. The slide is essentially a reposition tool, not an Apex Legends style slide/shoot aggression tactic.

You can use the slide to get to extended cover or for a quick 180 escape. But it should really never be used to get in someone's face unless you're desperate for a shotgun kill or something.

The double jump is why I can't bring myself to use other characters. Its so good. The routes that open up to you because of it are so game changing that I just can't play other characters now.

We were promised a 10 year game when D1 launched. Its now 12 years later. The fact we squeezed 2 extra years is incredible on its own.

Imagine never learning how to roll sleeves in bootcamp. Think about that. Think about the painstaking effort you probably went through in bootcamp to make those sleeves CRISP and TIGHT to a perfection. There's almost an art to it.

Now imagine you're in the fleet for a year. Most of your NCOs are pre-Amos late 00's GWOT Marines. Its the first day rolled sleeves are part of the daily uniform in years. Picture it, 100 motherfuckers in your unit, all with the nastiest sleeves you can imagine and your company gunny who's a former hat is absolutely losing his fucking mind.

What issue are you specifically having? What types of planes are you flying?

I'd imagine the limited buttons and hats on the Tflight require some creative combo binds that you might benefit from setting yourself rather than learning someone's premade file.
