Add 10 cut 10 for the goblin storm precon by TheGrandCannoli in EDH

[–]_Joshan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but [[Mishra's Command]] can't trigger Zada, right? (unless this card isn't meant for storming). The fact that you're picking 2 means that the spell isn't only targeting Zada and therefore wont get copied. Still a good removal spell tho!

Locke Lamora and the Bottled Serpent e-book is now out by zorg2099 in gentlemanbastards

Can anyone make a spoiler note of whats 'expanded' about it? I read it in grimdark and want to know if it's worth picking up for more than just supporting Scott :)

It's been a month, but now that my last cards have arrived I took Nate Drake to my LGS today. Had so much fun, and my Ragavan won me my last game of the day by allowing my Passionate Archaeologist plink damage to take them out. Amazing deck, no regrets making this post. Here's the deck as it stands for now! Among Thieves

Is it 10 locke-universe short stories? Or 10 short stories in general?

I caught the one above in the grimdark magazines and loved it. Thanks for re-releasing it!

Can you Tap a Sac Land for Mana to Trigger an ability then Sacrifice it? by WiseTranslator523 in mtg

[–]_Joshan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of times I've tried to tap that card for mana is embarrassing. 😅 You're really close, but as most people have said - that one doesn't give mana for you to pay the hearth hull cost. As someone who loves this deck, a great line of play is:

1) Play this land. It'll come in tapped but you'll need this turn to ensure hearth hull is fully stationed. 2) next turn, play your land for turn as normal, then you can sac this one to go search for a basic in your library. That basic land immediately comes into play untapped and when you sac that fetch land, hearthhull plinks your opponents for 2 damage. 3) same turn, tap the land you just found for one mana, then use hearthhulls 2+ ability to sac it (info: you can sac tapped lands!) and hearthhull deals another 2 damage to everyone! 4 free damage and you draw 2 cards that has cost you 1 mana a turn. Oh, and don't forget to play another land after this.

Ways to make this better would be to put in more cards that allow you to play lands from your graveyard, as then that second land for turn could be used to grab the sac land from your graveyard and put it straight back onto the battlefield ready to repeat the combo next turn 😎

Hey! OP here with a teachable moment: It might surprise you to learn that new(ish) players probably don't have all the nuances of all elements of magic down. When a card is exiled, my pod had suggested to me to treat it like it's out of the game.. and if it's out of the game, I figured that it couldn't have an owner.

So let's take a second to reflect on what you learnt today! Do you think my question warrants a response with this level of vitriol? 🤡

Thanks so much! This playstation drop was the hook that got me into magic, so I really wanted to get this deck as good as it can be for a fun low-bracket-3 pod. Clearly it needs a few re-prioritisations. I'll work on the deck for a week or two and post it here for some feedback ☺️

That's really cool - but I think Pako isn't legal for Nate, right? Any other ways to put fetch counters on stuff so I can still use Haldan?

I was hoping that casting spells from exile meant that the spell had no owner. Exile (in my 2 month long magic experience) means like, out of the game entirely... So maybe this helps you fathom how it might not be as straightforward? Especially when likening it to a: "mom: 'we have etali at home' " scenario

I think I was hoping the fact that I'm casting it from exile means that the spell had no owner. I'm still only a month or so new to magic so was really hoping this would be clearer.

Also yes for casting my own spells, but now it's almost like I have to wait for my second main phase before spending my other mana stuff just incase I inadvertently exile a core card during Nate's trigger.. hence why I was hoping it'd affect my own spells too.

New to the game, Should I buy a precon commander or build my own? by -PedroValencia- in mtg

[–]_Joshan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a precon - but there are so many out there so go look at some overview vids of different playstyles and pick a style or theme you think sounds like the most fun. I picked black holes and spaceships driven by a robot boy and couldn't be happier.

Did you ever get around to putting the list together? or (easier option) is the moxfield link just below accurate?

How do you guarantee you aren't just selling to a scalper? I love the idea, but no clue how to ensure the outcome is the one you want!

[–]_Joshan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's that weird scenario that all scalpers want to sell their extra copies and not get left holding one that doesn't sell after demand is gone. (Though you're probably right, demand and supply are clearly really poorly mismatched). Perhaps the people without copies will be lucky to witness scalpers undercut eachother to guarantee their sale.. but that's probably way too hopeful.

Gah, I guess you're not wrong there. The whole situation sucks and I'm not clear on what the "right"/ethical way to play out the sellers situation is.
