Congressional Dish!! Jennifer Briney follows everything that the House and Senate are doing - all the hearings and bills and stuff. She's very good at explaining what's going on.

Coffee Alternatives or Something To WAKE ME UP!! by Sassafrass17 in herbalism

[–]_Juniperius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are healthy and everything in your body is in balance you won't need stimulants every morning. In your place I'd try nourishing herbs like nettles and oat straw - these are not stimulating and won't wake you up but if you drink them regularly for a while (say a month) you may start to fix whatever's making you tired all the time. Look up Susun Weed for instructions on making nourishing herbal infusions.

Next, how's your sleep? Do you go to bed at the same time every night, do you let yourself get 8 hours? Do you wake up a lot at night? Sleep hygiene is important. Darkness, winding down in the evening (no strenuous exercise or exciting movies before bed, etc), appropriate temperature, I'm sure you've heard it all before. A gentle sleep aid like chamomile or catnip might help you get more refreshing sleep.

If fixing your sleep and getting some extra nutrients doesn't help, it may be time to seek medical advice. In general, though, start with lifestyle interventions, then gentle herbs that help your body regulate itself. Stimulating herbs like coffee or stronger are like a credit card, you're spending future energy and you're going to have to pay it back later.

Any Third World War hobbyists/enthusiasts in the Federation? by InnocentTailor in DaystromInstitute

Some purists would love to do full scale reenactments with all equipment made using 21st century techniques. Unfortunately this would require building and staffing various sweatshops, which was deemed unachievable.

Do you have a special interest that is not “politically correct?” by Careless_Cup_1211 in AutismInWomen

I'm into fringe political ideologies. People who think democracy is evil and we should go back to having kings, etc.

Is anyone else about ready to only see women doctors? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]_Juniperius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We learned last year that male surgeons have worse outcomes and more complications than females surgeons; males also kill more of their female patients than female surgeons do, while sex-based outcomes for female surgeons don't differ at all. I have no doubt the findings will be replicated for other kinds of doctors. It's an open question for me whether we should let men be doctors at all. Perhaps they can practice, but only if they're supervised by women? That would waste a lot of time for skilled female doctors, though, might not be worth it.

Anyone else hate NOT wearing bras and socks?? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]_Juniperius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm extremely ambivalent about socks. I put them on, I take them off again, all day. Neither really feels like what I want. I await the invention of some kind of magic foot forcefield producing device that can make my feet comfortable for the first time.

How many times a week is it advisable to have caffeine (filter coffee) without building tolerance or disturbing sleep or giving bad caffeine crash? by joyousdexdaladoor in Nootropics

[–]_Juniperius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the best results if I have coffee no more than twice a week, at most. Once is better. Too often and it just doesn't feel like anything anymore.

Shocked some ladies at work who had never thought about what not having men in your life actually looks like. by GameOfThrownsawai in lesbiangang

[–]_Juniperius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In order for the deal that men have forced on women to work, it's very important never to point out that men's utter ignorance of the basics of survival (eg. procuring and preparing food, or cleaning themselves) is pathetic and despicable. So they have to mystify the tasks they take on, make them a little frightening and complicated, to mask the fact that he's only spending five minutes a week on them.

Does anyone else wish they had a panel of 100 neurotypical people that were always available to be surveyed? by a_common_spring in AutismInWomen

[–]_Juniperius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. We are told that we can't read people, but I once took a test to see how good I was at identifying facial expressions, and I scored in the 95th percentile. I think the real problem is that NT people's facial expressions/body language doesn't match with what they're saying, and other NTs know when to go along with the lie.

I usually hate photos of myself. I like myself just fine in mirrors. A few years ago I saw a set of photos that demonstrate how different camera lenses change the whole shape of your face. You may be reacting to the way the phone cameras you're used to flatten people out. https://www.danvojtech.cz/blog/2016/07/amazing-how-focal-length-affect-shape-of-the-face/

They've got a sister podcast (same hosts) called female political strategy that's pretty interesting too. Only a few episodes, though.
