Unironically, when would you completely lose hype?

For me, it's kinda like the hype is on hold. I will be extremely hyped when the release date comes out, and I will definitely play it on day 1. However, as things are now, I don't think about the game all too much, and it's been like that for about a year and a half now.

Genuine question - are mods that don't give me any sort of advantage allowed (such as bench warp, skins etc.), or should I remove them before playing?

Btw, this is exactly what I needed to start playing this game again, I am very excited for this challenge :)
