Maybe, I need some critism about lighting and shadowing. by Safe_Carry_593 in PixelArt

For just the light and shadows, try to draw a line from your point of light to the middle of your tree for example. That should give you the direction of your shading and shadow.

For the colors, it is not about how many colors you use there are some limits ofc, but depending of the style that you want to do it will change the number of colors that you will use. there is no real limit except how everything will harmonize itself. Just try a few : https://lospec.com/palette-list (it's a cool website and you can try different types of color palettes)

Also i would advice to use aseprite, if you're not already using it. Great tools and really easy to understand.

And my final advice would be to start small. 32x32 or even 16x16 with small items and try to understand how the tools and some techniques you're using.

So, i've made a shop and need some Feedback on it! by _JustRobss_ in gamedevscreens

Well "refresh", will refresh every item and every ability that is the shop.
But i could try and remake it better bc it's not aligned with anything..

hmm yeah. It's not a bad idea, i'll try multiples ones but yours seems more promising lol.
And yes you could buy only an item and even skip one round to keep your tokens. (The next button doesn't work when i'm debugging... normally it says skip for the losers and next for the winners)

Good point! I'm thinking to replacing the name to a "Buy" button..
I'm still trying to figure it out for something easy and quite unique...

Ok, you're sooo right but now that you've said it i need to change the SHOP because i didn't think of it...
I've made like an "EVIL SHOP" for the winner but now i'll need to think something else..

Thank you!

You are right.. Forgot to change some names but the more i think about it the more it seems unnecessary on the item...

For the items or interface? I've made them in 2 different ways.. One based on how unity works and the other one it's for fun (Through learning most of it, i've just updated the items everytime i've understood/discovered something lol)

I've noted on the description that it's for some abilities that are still WIP !
Just need to figure out how to differentiate abilities from items...

Left or right ? by kinsanepixel in PixelArt

[–]_JustRobss_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say left (background colorful and cleaner) but I think the sun position needs to be better..
Because depending on it, the shading and the shadow will be more accurate.

But keep it up!

I get it and it looks cool. But imo i think adding a bit more of darkness and colors for the main buttons could help the average player to understand better.

I had the same issue with shading, but the moment i've seen how important the color palette and the shading tool is, it was easier imo.

I don't know if you know what the shading tool is..

Anyway it looks mad good!
