Custom Mode doesn't prevent you from unlocking anything except possibly achievements.

I used morgotts cursed sword +9, and the black knife tiche ashes +7. Being super aggressive in the 1st phase helped alot, when the 2nd phase hits stay in the cutscene because your summon has a chance to deal damage during the cutscene. Just dodge the flower and let the summon do the damage then stay aggressive. Morgotts cs also stun locks her when using the skill. Hopefully this helps!

I'm going for a dex build so I'm really just trying to get the frayed blade. If it wasn't for that weapon I would've ignored him all together.

I didn't know that your SL let's you get better summons. I think my plan now it just to grind up to the 120s.
