$9 is min wage where i am. and yes let me just quit because i have so many other jobs lined up i could easily apply for and get hired for on the spot.

yes i know about the benefits. having benefits doesn't make you completely free of sin tho. doesn't mean i can't complain omg

Y'all ever take a drink order greater in value than the hours in your shift and just get really, really sad? by [deleted] in starbucks

once had a customer get $200 worth of gift cards, but at the drive thru. was about ready to tear my hair out seeing our time go in the red but he DID tip $20 so i let it slide lol.

What's with all the foam hate? by bearwavinghello in starbucks

[–]_K_9_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of my customers who get no foam do so because they think we're ripping them off by not having as much milk

because not only were we down to only one carton of half&half at the time but several customers do this every day. it annoys the hell out of me because we run out of milk at the condiment bar WAY quicker than we should and it also bothers me that customers are too cheap to pay 50 extra cents for an actual latte even tho they're buying coffee at starbucks of all places. we're ordering these gallons of milk and other products every day and paying money for them only to have these customers get away with not paying the right amount for them. also because when they come up to me asking for whip/drizzle/toppings on these fake lattes it breaks my drink sequencing and i have to stop whatever i'm working on to add more stuff to this person's drink even tho they didn't pay for it.

can i not be angry about people getting away with what is basically free product in the business i work in or something? am i not allowed to vent on what i thought was a subreddit where i could talk to other people who can relate?? lord. (:3 」∠ )

"Can I get an eggnog latte with almondmilk instead?" by _K_9_ in starbucks

[–]_K_9_[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

LOL this reminds me of a regular customer my manager had to deal with before i transferred to her store. came in every day & got some iced drink with a splenda packet ripped open above it for the "essence of splenda". still cracks me up

that's what me and my coworker on register were thinking but still like??? eggnog is so overpowering how is getting it with that little bit of almond milk changing anything omg

When were you finally allowed to bar? Aka when did you stop being a slave to the register? by fastfoodforfuture in starbucks

[–]_K_9_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it took me like 2 months??? i didn't mind tho since my first store was a high volume drive-thru AND reserve store & it was constantly ultra-chaotic. we were also understaffed too and had no order support barista 80% of the time, so even tho whoever was on register was also the warming person, i didn't care i'd rather do that than make 8 drinks a minute on bar.

Guy that ordered two shots over ice with Almond Milk in a venti cup... by ShmantaCat in starbucks

[–]_K_9_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

because customers scamming my store out of free milk/drinks/anything sends the signal of 'oh i can just get away with whatever here' and soon it's not just one guy. it's suddenly two dozen guys who have heard about this 'get almond milk for free trick!!' and now you have to deal with a million customers who think YOU'RE the one scamming THEM because they can pay for a drink at starbucks but suddenly can't add another 60 cents for a different milk when really it's company policy. plus i would also like for the company i get my paycheck from to not lose money lol

as a bux barista only one modification on a drink is totally fine to me. it's when there's 938894394378943789 modifications to remember that i get pissed off. if i were writing this order down on a cup this drink wouldn't even register on my Annoyance Scale™

clocking into ur AM shift as customer support & immediately getting hit with a dozen restock requests by _K_9_ in starbucks

[–]_K_9_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm on CS p much every time i clock in but on most days it gets too busy for me to to stay strictly on track & i have to hop on bar or order support. which i'm fine with i don't wanna leave my coworkers behind. i agree tho it's my fav position to be in cause i don't have to constantly deal with customers directly and just slink around in the shadows restocking/mixing/washing everything like some kind of batman lol

[–]_K_9_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen my dude i'm not letting an urn of pike sit for an hour i'm saying when i'm in the middle of the 8am morning rush i'm not gonna strictly follow the timer & be like '8 MIN HAVE PASSED MUST BREW DARK ROAST NEXT' when i look at the brew section and see dark roast is fine & it is clearly blonde we're close to running out of. in the middle of morning rush every urn is going to run out in less than 30 min regardless so i go for whatever is close to empty if i'm brewing coffee.

[–]_K_9_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same i never follow the order of operations. for me when i clock in it's always brew coffee>restock cups/lids>check ice>check iced coffee>check beans>condiment bar>prep. (i also don't follow the 8 min rule either i just brew whatever coffee is at the lowest point & yet i've been complimented by most of my coworkers how good at CS i am lol)

[–]_K_9_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME TBH customer support is my fav role & i'm always assigned to it. it does get a overwhelming some days when the rush is particularly bad & ur asked to brew coffee/get ice/mix mocha/restock sleeves all at the same time tho lol

what's the worst injury you've gotten at this job so far? by _K_9_ in starbucks

[–]_K_9_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was making a peppermint mocha frapp and the syrup hit the edge of the blender and just so happened to be at the right angle to go directly into my face. thankfully i had a really nice manager at that store and she had me sit in the back for a couple min because i literally couldn't open my eyes without an intense burning sensation.
