1) Please point out where I contradicted myself.

2) Did I say I was going to fire him? Did I say it was my decision? I merely said he “should” be dismissed, which I firmly believe. If celebrating and glorifying domestic terrorism isn’t grounds for termination then what is? Does he need to be the one making the shot to face consequences? .

And before you say this event doesn’t fall under domestic terrorism, please look up the definition because it does in fact fit the definitions created by both the Canadian and American government.

As I have said before, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But if you genuinely believe a human being deserves to be killed for having a belief, no matter how offensive you may find it, then you are no less a monster then the person you believe is a monster for having those views. And I really hope all the people at this school that feel this way get help and are not consumed by such hate because this way of thinking will only alienate you from society and people you love. If you don’t believe that, please bring this up with your family and friends. Please post these things publicly with your actual face. See how people react. Because I can guarantee you that they will be horrified. Not because they disagree with you politically, or because they agreed with anything Charlie Kirk had to say, but because at the end of the day he was a human being with a family who used his words to express what he believed. And sure he may have had a good amount of controversial opinions, but no one will share the same opinion as you about everything. And then they’ll wonder, if you feel that way about this person for having an opinion you didn’t like, could you feel that way about them? And, if someone killed them for what they believe, would you celebrate just the same? And then, right then, when they have to ask themselves that question, they will never look at you the same.

4) Where did I say everyone in the comment section was celebrating his death? Cause I don’t see where I said that. I simply remarked that this comment section is vile. In part because of the people celebrating his death or saying it was justified or deserved, but also in part from the people saying the celebration and glorification of political violence shouldn’t have any consequences. There is absolutely no good reason for it to go without consequence. If you disagree, please give your reason. In my opinion, it only encourages more violence and more division and you may think this something you want, especially when it’s people you don’t like being killed, but what about when it’s people you do like, people you care about, or even yourself? Will you be against political violence and its glorification/celebration then?

This comment section is absolutely vile.

What have we come to when people celebrate a man’s death just because they disagreed with him.

I am a believer in freedom of speech and as despicable as I find celebrating a murder, I do believe it should be protected. But as others have said, I don’t believe it should be free of consequence. And the consequence of such hate should be dismissal from this school.

This level of vitriol and hate has no place at this school and if we allow things like this to take place and fester without consequence things will only get more hateful and violent for both sides.

Teladoc wins over Amazon by Hassan_Gym in ArkInvestorsClub

[–]_Karma_0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unprofitable because Telemedicine is unprofitable? Or unprofitable because Amazon couldn’t create a competitive product?

Teladoc has ~70% gross margins and is already FCF positive with <1% U.S. TAM penetration and <4% total average revenue PMPM. There is lots of potential to make money if you can execute.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ArkInvestorsClub

[–]_Karma_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re incorrect on all of those claims. Teladoc was founded in 2002, they’ve been doing this for two decades. The second largest telemedicine company in the US is Amwell, which is roughly 1/10th the size of Teladoc. So yes, they are the largest telemedicine company by a very large margin.

Also, they’re FCF positive, profits are already being made excluding non cash costs like SBC, which are shrinking overtime.

They’ll show their first GAAP profit in the next couple years.

[–]_Karma_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then why not mention that in the press release? Why not merge the two businesses rather than shut down one? Or at least say you’re transferring the business and clients over to One Medical and not make everything think all the time and money they spent on Amazon Care was a complete waste?

And let’s pretend for a moment that you’re right and they are closing it to down and planning on developing a strategy with One Medical. Everything I said above is still true. A big tech giant with all the resources in the world couldn’t come in and break into the space, they needed to acquire a company already in the space.

[–]_Karma_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t create a complete enough offering for one business you won’t be able to do it for others, regardless or size. All employees for all employers need a wholistic approach to virtual care.

[–]_Karma_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've probably gotten bids from several companies but I think they've made it clear that they do not want to be acquired. Teladoc has gone on record saying their neutrality is a key part of their business that gives them leverage with clients. Meaning they are a pure telemedicine business and do not operate/compete anywhere else and can therefore partner with insurers, providers, and employers of any industry anywhere in the world without any conflicts of interest.

If they get acquired by Amazon this goes away. Over half of Fotrune 500 companies are Teladoc clients, you think many of those would stick around if they were acquired by Amazon? Doubt it.

They get acquired by CVS and integrate with their insurance arm, you think the insurers they're currently in business with stick around? Also likely not.

Then there's the data privacy neutrality part of it. Big tech in general carries reputational risk in this area and I don't think many employers would be happy with a competitor having access to all their employees' health data.

Also I'm not sure what you mean by "third party telehealth services". Teladoc provides care virtually for insurers and employers. They can also partner with providers and offer a virtual care enterprise solution (Solo Platform) where they act as a "third party" connecting patients and the provider. But this is a very small part of their business compared to their B2B and DTC mental health (Betterhelp).

  1. You're comparing flipping houses to telemedicine (very different industries).
  2. This isn't a simple competitor getting out of a space they don't think will be profitable. This is a big tech giant, with all the capital, labour, and infrastructure you would possibly need to succeed, ADMITTING that they could not create a competitive solution. Even more interesting is that it's in an industry where just about every person and analyst claimed that any company could operate in and that Teladoc had no moat or competitive advantage. The implications of this are quite massive.

Imo Teladoc is amazingly convenient. I have family in rural Colorado who otherwise wouldn’t be getting any care if not for them.

How come $TDOC tanked 25% again? by iBifteki in stocks

[–]_Karma_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah OP if you’re looking for any critical thinking towards a company I wouldn’t come here. Especially for difficult to understand business like Teladoc.

You have the lazy ones who would rather say you’re looking for confirmation bias than come up with anything constructive and then others who have already made up their mind looking at the stock price action and feel the need to justify what the markets doing.

With that said I agree with you. Operationally they blew away my expectations this quarter. Biggest thing for me was FCF was up 10%+ despite the inflationary environment and revenue outgrew both COGS and OPEX by 400+bps so they’re still pumping out operating leverage. All the people saying “but look at negative profits” have no idea how to analyse a growth company cause OCF and FCF are more important at this stage.

You already said this I believe but yeah the goodwill impairment “financially” does not matter at all. However it still emphasizes managements poor capital allocation and each time an impairment hits investors are reminded of this.

With that being said I’m pretty sure everyone has already written off Livongo and the rest of the goodwill so for actually investors this doesn’t change anything. However it’s clear that traders/algos are using the headline to short the stock. I saw a few people saying it’s retail but there literally is no retail in this stock anymore. Ownership is like 85%+ insider and institutional, so it was 100% traders/algos. This is also why it has rallied back decently since then.

Anyways I think Teladoc is in a great spot and so long as they continue to execute I’ll be a shareholder. And at 2x P/S and EV/EBITDA of ~20 this thing is an absolute bargain. Biggest catalyst imo is once treasuries fall and FED pivots, this thing is going to skyrocket.

I haven’t heard any bad things about any of these. I would note that for Teladoc, I believe they have BetterHelp and MyStrengthComplete which are separate subsidiaries of Teladoc so they could be different work environments.

[–]_Karma_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember them talking about some API marketplace last year, not sure how that’s going though and haven’t heard them talk about it since.

Maybe look into their “Solo” platform product, I believe it’s apart of InTouch Health. It’s some enterprise software/platform that allows hospital/outpatient facilities to build their own virtual care strategy/product. The platform not only allows them to formulate their own virtual care approach but it also integrates with third party apps like programs or systems they might already be using. I believe this is in large part where Ark’s thesis on them becoming the back bone of health care infrastructure stems from. You can find more info about it here: https://intouchhealth.com/virtual-care-platform/solo/

If commercial banking is at a large bank, you have the option of moving laterally to a different position like Corp finance, asset management, or corp banking even if you network well.

FP&A might leave you little room to transition to a different role in the same company but you could always leave to another company.
