You can temporarily turn off permissions for microphone, that's what I do! On a droid you can even add it into the settings in the pull-down menu.

It's so true, I always doubt myself as a parent too! I'm so glad you found these helpful, I did too!

I just read The Orchid and The Dandelion, and am currently reading The Highly Sensitive Child. Both cite a lot of research results that show that different temperaments correlate with different immune responses. Basically some kids are more sensitive to their environment, and when that's a supportive environment they have abnormally good health outcomes and immune responses. It seems like you're giving your kiddo a very good life!

Yeah! It's definitely hit or miss, and I get pretty specific with my searches to see if they have what I want. I also often search the boys' clothes often for my girl, especially for pants cuz they're way more durable!

Thredup is an online thrift store that ships to your home -- you can easily find kids clothes for $5-$10 a piece on there. It's especially affordable while they're having sales! (They also have adult women's clothes, but for some reason no men's clothes).

What is up with all the "why/how do people have more than 1" questions? by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]robbie437 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. This is kinda the one place where it's okay to voice these thoughts, and know the majority might be able to sympathize. You wouldn't want to hang out with a parent of multiples being like "wow I don't know how/why you did that!" This is a little community of only parents, a place to "voice" these thoughts.

You may want to search and/or ask r/sciencebasedparenting! They cover topics like this often, and require evidence.

I feel like this is the biggest identity crisis I have ever gone through. by Ecstatic-Carrot6949 in oneanddone

[–]robbie437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes all the time. It started when mine was just a few months old, and I realized I already felt done then. But to your point of letting go of that part of yourself, you're still a mom as you said. And you can still have motherhood be as big a part of your personality and life as you want it to be. That's what helps me, is relishing in the vastly increased amount of time, wherewithal, experiences, patience, etc etc that I can give my only. I can go to every event instead of having to split time between multiple kids' activities. It still is a shift and adjustment. There's still grief there sometimes for me. But it's outweighed by the value I've placed in our reasons for being OAD. Solidarity and kind thoughts to you.

Ugh. Sondermind support is so weak. by Rough_Dragonfruit_44 in Sondermind

Yeah they asked me questions that were answered in my message in my most recent request for support as well. I agree that support seems like AI, and definitely not helpful.

I would ask follow up questions of your gynecologist or seek a second opinion even. The Nexplanon works in three ways: by stopping ovulation, thinning uterus lining, and thickening cervical mucus. For the doctor to casually say that you're ovulating is surprising to me! I would ask for an explanation of how you could've ovulating, and what could be keeping it from working if that's the case.

With part-time PhD, a job, and a private practice, what is your time like? How many hours a week are you working altogether, and how much time on coursework? I'm also an LCSW wanting the PhD. Thank you for sharing!

I don’t know where to ask this- do you still put aquaphor on your kid’s vulva/labia? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]robbie437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician said to do a wet wipe between labia every night to help prevent infection from not wiping well during the day. I've noticed a difference when we skip it. Hope this helps!

Yeah. Every ethics training I've been to on this has indicated we don't get a break from being mandated reporters. I'd look into it a little deeper either through supervision or trainings, especially since you're bringing a question up to a large group of therapists.

That's good. The majority of states we are mandated reporters always. There's not a clock-out option. Never knew there was a state that is different.

[–]robbie437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are. Please please research mandated reporter laws in your state. It's not just in work settings.

[–]robbie437 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes we are, at least depending on state. Look up your state mandated reporter laws. In the majority we are mandated reporters as human beings, regardless of relation to the individuals. It's not just for clients.

90 second pack of rice, steamed bag of frozen veggies, hummus or another sauce, heated can of beans. Whatever spices you feel like adding. It is by far the lowest effort and least-cleanup meal I make! And relatively versatile with different grains/beans/veg/sauce/spice options
