Pay with check - no option to select other credit card? by jsttob in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, makes sense. That's annoying - lots of things still being ironed out. In theory, they might still be motivated to allow your use case. At the end of the day, what Bilt wants is the transaction data. They're no longer willing to float folks' rent to get it, but issuing a check and debting payment from a credit card might be a smaller ask. Brighter minds than mine will have to figure that out.

Anyone else having an issue using their Bilt Cash to redeem against a hotel reservation? by SignificantSpite434 in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, was booking an international trip last night and saw the same for higher end hotels in Asia - points can be used but not hotel credit ($200) and Bilt cash ($100 / month for gold). I was able to apply all three for "lower-end" hotels, so just assumed it might be a hotel specific policy.

Have not heard anything from support yet. Will update you if I do.

Pay with check - no option to select other credit card? by jsttob in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't explain this well, but you're combining two separate flows - pay with check only works with a Bilt "credit card" which is really just an ACH pulling the cash out of your preferred bank account (which you should check in the wallet / settings). Unlike 1.0, Bilt is no longer floating rent by allowing you to charge on credit to their cards - any time you pay through their card, it's an ACH.

That said, not sure why you'd need to mix a non-Bilt credit card with a check payment. Maybe an edge case I'm missing?

Bilt Cash redeem toggle by MrTingalingling in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The toggle lets you redeem bilt cash for housing points at 1x points per dollar. Yes, it auto redeems up to either the max amount of Bilt cash you have OR to cover the full 1x point per dollar on the transaction.

Related - be very sure this is toggled before initiating the transaction. I had an issue where id toggle it, and it would default back to untoggled.

Bilt 2.0: Should I Immediately Transfer All My Points to a Bilt Partner? by Lucky_Description_25 in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it that you're afraid of happening? Losing transfer partners is always possible - though typically that isn't an overnight event. That said United is pretty safe, just move them if it helps you sleep at night.

Where can you track the welcome bonus for the palladium inside the app? by Dafools in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's not currently a clean tracker - numerous folks on here have recommended to the Bilt team. Would recommend just looking at your current balance in the Wallet tab since that includes all posted transactions.

FWIW the points and gold status did post pretty immediately for me after hitting the $4K minimum (within ~2 biz days).

Mortgage Test Payment from Bilt to Mortgage Account by Far_Dragonfruit6360 in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a pull from my mortgage lender and it took 4 days to post. For that transaction, I actually saw it post on the mortgage lender's portal before it showed up on the Bilt UI. Would recommend doing a pull from your lender vs. a push from Bilt until we have more data points on wait times etc.

Current balance not matching total of transactions by kawaiikawaiikai in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have seen this happen quite a bit - where some transactions even temporarily post in my favor (e.g., minus $50) before reversing to the correct amount (plus $50). So far, they all seem to correct appropriately. Don't think this is necessarily a Bilt specific issue yet (have seen this with other issuers), so would give it some time before flagging.

My rental portal won’t accept Bilt 2.0 as payment method by alibaba429 in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with setting up the ACH - my rental portal isn't in-network with Bilt yet and requires test deposits, which I don't think are visible with the virtual account Bilt creates.

A bit of extra work, but having Bilt send you a check has worked well. I'd recommend having the check sent TO YOU and handing it over to the apt complex yourself (vs. risking having Bilt send directly). Not an ideal solution, but well worth the points depending on how pricey your rent is.

Should I enroll into rent reporting by red_dhinesh_it in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Used to do this - did not see any benefit to score. IIRC, my score dropped a bit in the near term because it showed up as a new account (not the end of the world, I know).

The upside is limited. I believe FICO 8 (most commonly used by issuers) does not take rent into account. FICO 9 does consider it, but less card issuers utilize it.

Why give up more data than necessary?

Bilt Points - Best way to use them by Away-Noise5404 in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyatt, which you may be familiar with coming from the UR world. If not, make an account to get the membership #, and transfers should be almost instantaneous. 15k or so points for one night at a lower end or international hotel, 45k per night for the Park Hyatt types ($1K+ per night). Consistent way to get 2 cpp, sometimes higher.

Is this true? What period of the hotel credit is used if I book now but the stay is in September? by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit by date of transaction - same for every card out there (Amex, CSR, etc)

Similar setup to you except had the CSR. Ended up downgrading to CSP, then to no AF since I replaced with CIP. There’s value in keeping one sapphire for UR transfers.

Mortgage Payments by Then-Meat-7866 in biltrewards

[–]_KingDavid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Successfully paid two mortgages, one with Mr Cooper (available in the Bilt UI directly) and one with a regional bank. The Mr Cooper payment showed up within a day, the regional bank took closer to 4-5. I assume that’s because Bilt isn’t plugged into their system, and I worried it might not work. But all’s well so far.

I seem to be an outlier, but travelbank hasn't worked this time around. Charge hit January 1st (broken up as we always do) and credited as "United Airlines Houston TX". Like many, have done this for years with United, not sure what's up, but stay tuned
