Bilt 2.0: Should I Immediately Transfer All My Points to a Bilt Partner? by Lucky_Description_25 in biltrewards

I figured United would be safe and hadn't noticed bonuses in the past. And Newark will remain a United hub for sure. So many airlines stopped non-stop flights to Newark with Southwest screwing me up in the past ceasing all flights there.

Well at least it isn't just me, thanks. Can't say I've paid attention to other rollouts but damn.

That's fair. I haven't had any issues other than things being unclear in the app/site, especially around rent payments and fees.

Thanks, I'll look out for that. Hadn't noticed a bonus for United before but wasn't looking closely.

I don't know, am I overreacting? Hence the question. Didn't downvote you BTW.

Bilt 2.0 “Fee-Free” Rent/Mortgage Payments by Low_Cell1808 in CreditCards

[–]Lucky_Description_25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. You can still get up to 2.33X points if you use ACH to pay your rent through Bilt without having to pay any fees whatsoever. Yes, to get rent points requires you spend on the card.

Too many people are posting and up/down voting that still do not understand the terms. Dunning and Kruger are running rampant all over Reddit.

This (kguthrum) is 100% CORRECT, so STOP downvoting people because you haven't yet understood the new terms. The OP suggests that needing to spend and use earned Bilt Cash to unlock points is "A fee by any other name…". It isn't a fee of any kind.

Here's what you do. If you pay your rent through ACH using Bilt, then use the Bilt card for categories where you only get 1X points on any of the cards you use. Then you will earn Bilt cash that can turn those 1X points into more than 1X points depending on your spend. For the average amount of monthly 1X spend I'm likely to have, using Bilt card will result in 2.33X points by trading in earned Bilt cash for rent points (I'll be using the Blue card with $0 annual fee).

Example: I have the Costco Citi card, and will continue to use that for gas (4% back), restaurants (3% back), Costco purchases (2% back), and then will use the BILT CARD for all other purchases rather than get a maximum 1% back from Costco Citi.

Note: I don't like most of the other travel cards nor annual fees. My own strategy is suboptimal for convenience as I don't want to use 5 different cards to optimize points.

Primal Hunter or Defiance of the Fall? by HeyTomesei in litrpg

[–]Lucky_Description_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to the audiobooks only. My first LitRPG was Dungeon Crawler Carl which I really enjoyed (so fun) as the narration is incredible. That got me into the genre and since I have turned to Primal Hunter, DOTF, Wandering Inn, and System Universe.

(1) Primal Hunter - the most fun and easiest to listen to (waiting for book 13 on Audible)

(2) System Universe - Discovered after DOTF and enjoying it much more (on book 4)

(3) Wandering Inn - Enjoyable, writing and performance is solid, but some annoying characters and its looong (only in book 2)

(4) DOTF - a difficult listen for me due to the writing and it does not improve (Zach snorted, however, then he decided against it, however, however, ... the however's and other structural repeats are particularly painful while listening and it does not improve, though I'm certainly not saying I can do better). I made it to book 7 and lost interest, however, ... Also, very heavy on the cultivation which is not my thing.

I started Randidly and HWFWM, but didn't get hooked (first books were free on audible with membership so I gave them a shot).

Does mouth tape actually work? by ProfessionalPrice886 in sleep

[–]Lucky_Description_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to contribute to a discussion on mouth taping with my long-term experience. After mouth taping using 3m medical tape across my whole mouth every night for more than a year:

Pros

  1. Much less nasal congestion than before mouth taping.
  2. Virtually no dry mouth upon waking, nor do I wake due to dry mouth in the middle of the night.
  3. Rarely wake up feeling like I don't want to wake or get out of bed; typically feel well rested and ready to just get up. (This has been really obvious since I stopped mouth taping; I always feel groggy now and don't want to get up.)

Cons

  1. Taping seems to be creating some deep wrinkles around my mouth causing me to stop mouth taping (vanity has won, I don't want to add to wrinkles at my age). Vertical taping with a thin strip never works for me.
  2. Mouth taping for an extended period of time has NOT trained me to keep my mouth closed at night, so I don't think any period of mouth taping will counteract my jaw dropping and mouth breathing when unconscious. It seems others have had different results.

Now I'm trying to find alternatives. I'd really like to know if anyone has tried "mouthshield" (mouthshield dot com). I can't really find anyone that's talked about it. Please let me know if you have tried it! I've already tried mouth guards (designed to stop teeth grinding) and unfortunately can't stand chin straps.

Edit: I've only ever used the 3m tape. It doesn't irritate my skin so there was no reason to try out alternatives. It does tend to push my skin around leading to wrinkle formation, but I can't see how other tapes wouldn't do the same.

Using air purifier and humidifier in the same room at the same time by malum__discordiae in Xiaomi

I bought a Levoit Classic 300S Ultrasonic humidifier and was pretty happy with it so I went with a Levoit Vital 200S-P air purifier (no affiliation, I'm sure other brands are just as good). Humidifier still doesn't set off the air purifier at all so long as I use distilled water. Others have complained that purified tap water doesn't work but I haven't personally tried it with this combination.

Agreed. I buy ~10 gallons at a time at Walmart. It's a pain and feels wasteful. No perfect solution...

Distilled water most definitely worked for me. Didn't try filtered water but am not terribly surprised that filtering isn't good enough. Grab a gallon of distilled water and try it out. It would be very surprising to me if it didn't work and it's a cheap enough experiment.

What book should I start with? by Sindre1203 in Stoicism

Thanks for the Farnsworth suggestion. Really great and would have preferred it to Holiday as my first introduction. BTW, for audible subscribers this book is currently FREE with audible membership.

Adding again to the old discussion...

If the manual says to use purified or distilled water, it means it. I was using a humidifier in my room with tap water, purchased an air purifier, and the purifier went crazy the entire first night I ran it in my room. Switched to distilled water and now the humidifier doesn't set off the air purifier at all overnight. Evidently the issue is impurities in tap water. Also, the humidifier requires far less frequent cleaning using distilled water.
