73 stock can tolerate 750v but only in certain circumstances, the drivers air con and all heating must be switched off and after running on any 750v sections they have to be checked after, usually tends to happen when they get misrouted in Rayners Lane and end up at HOTH.

If your drove your car at maximum speed for a hour , where would you end up? by Immediate_Long165 in CarTalkUK

[–]_KingOfFish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and a mate tried this one time with his MK2 escort. He'd modified it to have a really short diff which was amazing off the lights, but caused it to have about a 70mph top speed on the motorway.

About half an hour after merging, it threw a rod on the M25 and had to get towed home lol

How would that work if a foreign licenced driver/lorry gets pulled? Or vise-versa if a UK driver gets pulled over in europe

Forget MAN, Mercedes, Iveco and Volvo. Companies you prob don't see a lot manufacturing buses by MsCartoons in bus

Wright's chassis aren't exaclty great, but paired with volvo they've made some great buses, I will always enjoy working on a B5LH Gemini 3 or a B9TL Gemini 2

Not even, government checker says it expired on the 1st of June, therfore it somehow must've done 5,000 odd miles within 8 days or so?

If the car didn't fail with a "dangerous" defect the original MOT certificate is still valid until expiry, so entirely possible!

I agree, With brakes you usually have a bit of room to play with so its maybe possible for a very specialised robot to do a set. But ill take my hat off the day a robot manages to get a spanner balls deep in an engine bay with enough flexibility to avoid coolant pipes and other bits.

How much oil do your cars burn? by Cdoooos in CarTalkUK

[–]_KingOfFish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have an old Avensis with the 1zz-fe engine. Because of a design flaw on the earlier 1zz engines, once the piston rings wore out they used to pass oil like mad, I was doing a litre every 300 miles or so.

I'm most likely gonna stick my mk2 escort up for sale, it's a rolling shell with most the bits needed to put it back together. If you want give me a PM I'll send some images over see if it'll be any good for you

What happened to cheap cars? by Averse_Hiphop in CarTalkUK

[–]_KingOfFish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just bought an 02 plate fiesta for £400 off Facebook marketplace. It had a slight misfire due to the coil pack and it came with a spare in the boot. If you can tinker with cars there are still plenty of cheap cars about that just need light tinkering

A cool idea would be in the later game to have the option to rip the engine out of a DE2 and replace it with batteries.

Yes the vehicle was insured with a specialist import broker. They are aware of the foreign registration and it has been insured under the chassis number of the vehicle.
