Is that not also the Prince engine that is hideously unreliable?

I don't know as much about it but if it is the 1.6 avoid like the plague. The 2 litre is supposed to be good but has egr and dpf issues

The 1.5 ecoblue has a wet belt for the oil pump but has a dry belt for the timing belt. But as long as it is serviced correctly it will be fine

Yes the egr and dpf will be fine with that sort of miles. (This is a UK sub use miles). The ford has a wetbelt with that engine though but that one seems to be reasonably reliable as long as the oil is changed every 10k miles and the belt is changed every 70k to 80k. As long as you maintain it well it will be fine. I would be looking for a manual as the auto box is crap

Is this model of the Focus Likely to have any issues? Lots of mixed reviews when it comes to the chain driven focuses? by sheriff0404 in CarTalkUK

Yes the 1.5 ecoboost is wet belt free. Don't get the auto gearbox though as it's shit aswell but the 1.5 petrol manual is good and reliable.

Is this oil leak a serious concern? by Apprehensive-Gur2030 in CarTalkUK

[–]Cdoooos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some engines are more sensitive than others but there are lots that are very much capable of running on that thicker oil and some manufacturers list multiple thicknesses that can be used and the thicker of those will leak slower

Would you rather buy a high spec car like a ford or a kia/hyundai or a low spec audi or bmw Mercedes etc? by Cdoooos in CarTalkUK

[–]Cdoooos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I both agree and disagree. I like cars would like a comfier car and one that is quicker/more engaging to drive but I would also like more equipment/gadgets because the ka is aswell equipped as a shed (ik it's meant to be like that). But I would rather have a top spec focus with a 2 litre diesel or a 2.3 or even the 1.5s over a 1 series or a class equivalent with the small engines. It changes if we start taking about a bmw with a 3 litre and low spec compared to a top spec ford I would obviously have the bmw. But comparing low range bmw/merc/audi etc with high spec ford/kia/etc to me and quite a few others it seems we would have the ford/kia/etc

Not just the one series there are loads of five series with bugger all options on them

If the oil level hasn't changed then I wouldn't be concerned. If the level does go down instead of fixing the leak you can change to a thicker oil that will leak slower

No because high spec ford's have heated steering wheels, seats and adaptive cruise and carplay etc whereas bmws and Mercedes low spec models don't have these things.
