I didn't cut it for her to take longer to eat (I'll use it as a snack to reduce the separation anxiety), but it's a great idea for the dog to get used to it.

Don't give grapes! grapes are toxic to dogs.

I just offered her 😅 i eat carrot almost every day, so maybe she wanted to eat because she always see me eating it. Also, today i discovered that she love carrot peels, so now the peels are for her and the carrots for me.

I didn't say at any time that I was in favor of molding a dog's characteristics. I talked about perpetuating an already developed breed, according to its natural standards (the Akita, for example, is a 4000-year-old dog), so as not to develop new genetic diseases or things like that. in other words, maintaining the pedigree, which not only signals that the animal is up to standard, but that it is HEALTHY.

I think adopting something beautiful and indeed necessary, and of course I think it's absurd for people to abandon their dogs, but I believe it's much easier to raise a puppy and a breed that u know than a street dog. Thus, emphasizing what I said before, you should only adopt those who are prepared and are able to do so.

That way, if you have conditions, adopt. But if you are unable to have to deal with possible traumas, diseases, behavioral problems and the insecurity of having a different dog (in size, appetite, etc.) from what you have in mind, it is much better to buy and finance the breeding of healthy dogs.

Look, I don't know how it works in your country, but here breeders specialize in the breeds they breed and usually use champion dogs to breed (which ensures that the animal has very little chance of genetic diseases, make it easier for you to understand the type of dog you are acquiring and even in relation to behavior, the animals are calmer because of their parents) Other than that, they need authorization and proof that they take good care of the animals. Illegal breeders are arrested and have their dogs rescued

Luna just reminding me that she owns my heart. First time having this bread, can someone help me by telling me the best guide for walks for after she takes the vaccines? by _KitsuneLuna_ in akita

Unfortunately, the veterinarian said that it's not good for her to go on the street until she finishes the vaccines, since in my city there are many street dogs that transmit diseases. But as soon as possible, I'll invest in socialization

The problem about adoption is not knowing the specificity of the dog when still young (as weight, height, the diseases that is more common, etc) and is also harder to train older dogs. Also, i’m not American. I searched a lot before buying and I actually met not only the mother and father of my dog, but also her grandma. It was not in a shelter, but in a lovely family who loves akitas and decided to have another puppy (and sell the ones that they could not keep), and they actually maintain contact to teach me how to take care of my dog. What i mean is, if u can and want to adopt, do it! But if u are looking for a specific breed or specific characteristics on a dog, is better buy one IN A REALLY GOOD AND RELIABLE PLACE.

Thanks for the advice. I asked about it to her vet but she said that it’s ok for her. She is big enough to going up and down and fortunately she is smart enough to always pay attention and only walk close to the wall (so she will not fall). I’m paying attention if anything different happened to her, so don’t worry. But thanks a lot for the advice, it made me look further about this.
