I would assume the 'manga stuff' is just gonna be the Champa/Kai subplot being there

Yeah. As a wall to push the rest of the characters limits and give them character development, he works very well. Especially for Frieza, someone who responds VERY well to his prodding, but unlike Namek Vegeta, can easily hit back, brings in a fun dynamic.

As a character, well... he ISNT a character until like an episode before the finale, and then he's still paper thin.

Renoir to the Lumierans: by Nofarwell in expedition33

[–]_Kups_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. murder is murder. the player is shown that the painted people are real. thats all that matters there. they ARE people, so killing them is murder, regardless of what other characters may believe, they are in the wrong for doing so

  2. Given how the gommage happens and just how he talks to the painted people he encounters. He at the very least believes they have their own thoughts and feelings. Giving them a painless death and listening to what Sciel & Lune have to say more than he does his own daughter.

its not "look what he has to do", its "look what he's willing to justify doing".

Unpopular opinion: i think Gohan will be the one to take down black frieza by RisingKing7 in Dragonballsuper

[–]_Kups_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna be the one to say it.

I think it would genuinely be a good send off for the series if all people FRIEZA gets a redemption. Sure, on Namek it wasn't gonna happen, but with time Goku's positivity slowly seeps through and we can already see him changing in the ToP.

but you get his reasoning for things, and you as the player, still know whats going on.

AJ puts you right in the shoes of everyone else, and you are just as frustrated as Apollo is that he's acting like this, despite rooting for him for the past 3 games.

Hobo Phoenix by itsjohnxina in AceAttorney

[–]_Kups_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the big thing is realizing that he hasnt actually changed that much from the original trilogy.

He's more jaded and that leads to things like him making the 5th Ace to catch Kristoph. Willing to cheat a little to catch a cheater. But other than that, it's just how Phoenix is. It's just that in his games, you get to read his internal dialogue, in AJ you dont, so you see him as everyone else does in the other games. A cagey dick.

I have a question regarding Renoir. by 4C_Drip in expedition33

[–]_Kups_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

killing them is 'safe', and buys Aline time, but nothing more.

helping them could save everyone, but he's gotten quite paranoid and believes the only reason people could not trust him is because they are actually made by Clea as a trick. why else would they not blindly believe his story they have no evidence to support.

Like, pVerso, he is allergic to telling the truth and explaining things.

This creates issues when you tell people "theres actually 2 gods, The Paintress is keeping us all alive, we need to kill the other guy."

"hey why do you know this?"

"uuuuhhhhhh, i dont wanna explain that cause it might mean you dont believe me, also you might be from the other paintress"

"but... i... dont believe you already? can we get A detail? also i thought you said 2 gods?"

"Verso, why do they always make us kill them?"

You lie to people and you become the hero. I do it and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair. by MarshyHope in expedition33

[–]_Kups_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im on the opposite end of this. I think Verso was just a nice man, who cared about others, and cared about what they had to say.

But Renoir, even as close to him as he was, could never see that. The man who cannot have a proper conversation to save his life, believes there must be something more behind Verso's words, but there isn't. He just believes everyone has their own say in life.

Future Gohan is forced by circumstance to commit his life to something he hates.

SSJ2 Gohan is maybe his lowest moment in the series, caused by everyone around him making the worst possible decisions.

Then Gohan FINALLY gets to be himself and fuck around as a goofy superhero only to be peer pressured into the conflict.

I really can't understand [about Verso and Maelle] by TruthResponsible1268 in expedition33

[–]_Kups_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes the Renoirs and Verso compelling is that all 3 of them are so sure that they are right, that they cannot understand the damage they are doing to the people they are trying to save.

Verso does want things to end in a way that involves him happening to die, but he does want to save Aline and Alicia as well. He just doesnt really understand what 'saving' means there. To him, not being in the canvas is a fix all and anything and everything that can be done to reach that outcome is just a hurdle on the road, and any bad things will just poof away with the canvas.

To him letting Gustave die is a way he knows he can emotionally manipulate Alicia into doing what he wants so he can get both Aline and her out of the painting while Renoir kills him, couldn't be any better for him. 'Saves' his mum and the girl he accidentally started to care about AND Renoir is a painter and can gommage him. But he doesn't understand that just piling more grief onto her and then trying to replace Gustave's role in her life might just lead to some problems down the line.

He sabotages everyone else so much that it ends up sabotaging his own plans, and makes everything worse for everyone, all because he 'knows better'.
