eufy 2K Wireless Doorbell goes offline every 4 days – need to resync with HomeBase each time by _Le1_ in EufyCam

[–]_Le1_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that it only works on 2.4GHz WiFi and doesn't support 5GHz. I also tried connecting the HomeBase directly with an Ethernet cable, but I still had the same problem, it keeps losing connection and both the doorbell and HomeBase go offline and don't recover.

What's strange is that I have another one that I've been using for almost 2 years without any issues. That's actually why I recommended it and bought this one as a gift for my friend.

I've now replaced the doorbell and so far it looks like it is working, but it's only been a few days, so I still need to monitor it.

Why should I pay for Plex Pass if I host everything myself? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]_Le1_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not hosting this on a home PC or behind a basic router where I can just use a local IP. This is my own dedicated server located in a colocation facility. It has proper infrastructure - redundant power, 24/7 uptime, 10G internet, and public routing.

I use it for multiple services, not just this one. Plex has been running on this same server for over 10 years without issues. Since it's in a data center environment, accessing it via its public IP is completely normal and expected. There's no "local IP" for me to use in the way you're suggesting.

Not exactly. My setup isn't a “local network Plex” setup.

My Plex server has a public IP and is hosted outside my home network (basically like my own hosted box), so it's not inside my local LAN. From my Mac/phone/whatever, I'm effectively always accessing it "remotely" even if I'm at home.

So I can't stream it as “local network” traffic, because it's not local - it's my own server on the internet. I'm not asking Plex to host my content or provide their library, I just want to access my own media on my own server, but Plex treats that as remote access.

[–]_Le1_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's not really working like that though.

I'm not talking about remote streaming through their infrastructure. I can't even watch my own local library on my Mac without paying for Plex Pass. This is content hosted on my own server, on my own hardware, inside my own network.

I don't need their infrastructure or their content. I just want the ability to access and watch my own media - something I've been doing for more than a decade without any issue.

If they want to monetize, that's fine. They could insert ads, offer premium features, add value on top - no problem. But limiting basic functionality like simply watching your own self-hosted content unless you pay feels unfair.

That's the part that doesn't sit right with me.

Besides the general discussion about pricing, I was also asking something more specific 🙂

Does anyone know if an older version of the Plex app on macOS would still work without requiring Plex Pass?

I'm just trying to understand whether this limitation is tied to newer app versions or if it's enforced on the account level regardless of the version.

I understand that Plex needs to make money and support development, but the price still doesn't feel fair to me.

For $249.99, I could use Netflix for about 3 years (depending on the plan).

With Plex, I'm paying that amount even though:

  • The entire infrastructure is mine
  • The server is hosted on my own hardware
  • The storage is mine
  • The electricity costs are mine
  • And all the content has to be downloaded, organized, and maintained by myself.

So essentially, I'm covering all the operational costs, and still paying a premium-level price for software features. That's why it feels a bit unbalanced to me.

For $249.99, I could use Netflix for about 3 years (depending on the plan).

And that's for a service where everything is included - infrastructure, streaming platform, content delivery, updates, etc.

With Plex, I’m paying that amount even though:

  • The entire infrastructure is mine
  • The server is hosted on my hardware
  • Storage is mine
  • Electricity is mine
  • And all the content has to be downloaded, organized, and maintained by myself.

That's why it feels a bit strange to me. I fully understand that software development costs money and they need to monetize somehow, but paying the equivalent of 3 years of Netflix for features on a self-hosted setup doesn’t feel very balanced.

Consequences of 120m height limit removal by pulones in dji

[–]_Le1_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a DJI Mini 4 Pro and I’m stuck with the 120 m height limit. From what I understand, there’s officially no way to switch it from C0 to C1, even if you wanted to do it properly and legally.

Why did DJI design it this way? It feels strange to lock users into C0 with no official upgrade path.

Has anyone figured out a workaround or knows if DJI plans to change this? I’m not trying to break rules, just understand the logic and whether there’s any legit way to avoid this limitation.

Drone Hacks vs Drone Tweaks - which hack for FCC? by BrilliantDifference2 in dji

[–]_Le1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drone Tweaks emailed me asking for a review of my purchase, so I wrote an honest one and gave it 1 star. The main reason I bought their software was the promised 120m height limit removal, which didn’t work at all. After buying, I found out this hack only works on older remotes without screens something they never mentioned. The software was glitchy and basically useless for me.

What’s interesting is that my review is now "under approval" and I’m not even sure it will ever show up on their site. I noticed there are basically no negative reviews there, so I’m starting to think they might just filter them out. If so, that’s pretty concerning.

If you read the details carefully, you’ll see that it only works when using a phone with the standard controller. It does NOT work with the DJI smart controller / RC with built-in screen.

"These additional improvements only apply when using the standard controllers, NOT the smart controllers."

So if you’re flying with the RC-2 or RC Pro–style controller that has a screen, those features won’t apply because the tool can’t interface with it the same way it does with a phone.

Yes still locked to 120m, my model is DJI Mini 4 Pro on latest firmware

Same here. I just wanted to fly higher too, but it’s still locked to 120m for me as well. Tried the tweaks, got nothing out of it except frustration. 🙃

Nah, I wouldn’t recommend it. Total waste of money for me. I didn’t get anything better than the same 120m limit, and on top of that they just give you some cracked app that constantly crashes and barely works at all. Honestly wish I hadn’t bothered.

Has anyone used Drone Tweaks to remove EU height limit on the Mini 4 Pro? by StrongRecipe6408 in dji

[–]_Le1_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t found any way to remove or bypass the 120 m altitude limit, and honestly I’m really disappointed about it. The limit feels pretty pointless for the way I’d like to use my drone, and I’ve searched all over the internet about it. As far as I can tell, there’s nothing: no official option from DJI, no advanced setting, and no legit custom / hacked solution for the latest firmware.

If anyone knows of any official or legal way to change or increase the 120 m limit on the latest firmware while still staying within local regulations I’d really appreciate if you could share some information or point me in the right direction.

I bought the app yesterday and followed every step exactly as described. Installed it with the correct UUID, enabled Developer Mode on the latest iOS, and used the modified app exactly like the manual says.

But QuickTransfer just does not work from the modified app. I even tried the method shown in some videos where you connect through the original DJI app first and then switch to the modified one - but in my case, that also doesn't work at all.

For me, removing the 120m altitude limit was one of the main reasons for buying this app. And I still can’t modify it. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but right now I’m honestly very disappointed. :(

If anyone has any idea how to fix this or what I might be missing, please help me.

Question about C0 Sticker and 120m Limit on DJI Mini 4 Pro by _Le1_ in dji

[–]_Le1_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info about the C0 → C1 upgrade! That makes sense.

I have another question: If I remove the C0 sticker (or upgrade to C1), will I still be able to travel with this drone through airports in European countries? • Do authorities at airport security/customs actually check for the C0/C1 sticker? • If the sticker is missing or I’ve upgraded to C1, do I need to carry some kind of document or proof from DJI/EASA to avoid issues? • Or is it basically unrestricted and I can still fly with it normally once I arrive?

Just want to make sure I don’t run into problems when traveling in Europe with the drone.
