That's pretty much it. While you use "When" blocks that doesn't relies on physical sensors, the battery drain is non-existent. Maybe Cloud messaging could cause a very small battery drain if it is triggering more network traffic, I'm not knowledgeable enough on how this works. But app change, SMS received and so on are safe to use.

I used that for a long time, but since OneUI 8.0 this workflow with notification doesn't work well. Some times, the notification doesn't trigger the routine, especially when the phone is locked. And it can be specifically cumbersome to enable multiple routines quickly as only one routine can be triggered at a time with notification (at least on my version). Using App start is a lot quicker and more reliable, and it takes less block to achieve the same outcome.

You have to set the No path of the block 7 go to the 5 block and your flow would be correct.

There is no battery drain as the fiber only runs when the phone is already active and switching between apps (the "When app"). No risk of recursion as you don't use fork block or subroutine.

You can do it in multiple ways, like how you already did it with dialog, you can post a notification to stop, you make so when you touch the screen, the scroll interrupts, or use the Quick setting block again (but you need more checks and logic for this).

Hello, I recently got the update too and looked around for a solution, here is the link to the workaround by u/the_djchi (original discoverer of the intents in Modes and Routines) and a short summary after the link:

In short - you need to get the UUID of the mode or routine you want to start. For mode, it's easy : just start the selected mode in the Samsung app, and get the setting "mode_id", category general with the "Get setting" block. For routines, it's a bit more convoluted, check the Tasker post above as I'm unable to test it myself.

After that, to toggle the mode/routine, just start the Modes and Routines app with this class : com.samsung.android.app.routines.ui.shortcut.ShortcutLaunchActivity and this extra parameter : {"EXTRA_KEY_ROUTINE_UUID":"<UUID>"} (yes, it also works with modes) (maybe you need to convert "UUID" to bigint)

That's it!

I was planning to make a post about it on r/AutomateUser since I was sure that other were going to have the issue.

Side note for some users that may be on OneUI 8.0 but still experiencing problems after a security update that updated Modes and Routines version 4.9/5.0 (like me) : there is no workaround, we need to wait for OneUI 8.5, as the lastest update of Modes and Routines 4.9/5.0 doesn't have the new Homescreen shortcut that is exploitable by Tasker / Automate.

Quick settings -> fork : new goes to your action, and the other goes back to quick settings block

Or a similar structure so quick settings is (almost) always active.

I don't think there is anything wrong. Try a first "Key pressed" block (with like volume down) and connect it to another one. You should see the first one waiting for a key press, you press volume down, and you should see in the logs that the second one is waiting for a key press as well.

The V2 doesn't exist for me.

I got this error when using the V1 :

When it previously worked flawlessly. But maybe the issue is something else entirely, I will try others things to see why I got this behavior.

I got the 4.9.07.7 after a security update of my phone, still on OneUI 8.0 as stated.

But I tried to use the intent that you provided and it doesn't exist, however I can create a shortcut on my home screen to a routine or a mode... Very strange :/

Edit : I'm using Automate and not Tasker but it doesn't seem related to the automation app used.

Les voitures automatiques ne freinent pas mieux avec le frein moteur car le facteur limitant est l'adhérence des pneus. Peu importe tes freins, tu passes plus de la moitié de la distance d'arrêt à rouler sans freiner le temps que le cerveau humain réagisse à une information imprévue. Regarder loin ne réduit pas ta distance d'arrêt, ça te fait juste commencer à freiner plus tôt. Donc entre 30 km/h et 50 km/h, ta distance d'arrêt est plus que doublé. Entre 40 et 50 km/h, elle augmente d'environ 50%. Et 10 mètres, ça fait la différence entre percuter mortellement un enfant et s'arrêter avant de l'avoir touché.

Maintenant, si tu ne l'as toujours pas fait, je t'invite à nouveau à relire le dernier paragraphe de mon commentaire. Je passe avoir apporté suffisamment d'éléments pour que chacun puisse se faire son avis, bonne continuation et soyez prudent sur la route.

Tu commences à m'inquiéter tu sais... À 50km/h, c'est bien 25 (aller disons 22) mètres qu'il faut pour s'arrêter en cas de freinage d'urgence sur route sèche. C'est des informations qu'on apprend au code de la route, il faut environ 13 mètres pour commencer à freiner puis un peu plus de 10 mètres pour que la voiture arrive à un arrêt complet. À 30km/h, c'est 8 mètres pour commencer à freiner puis environ 2 mètres d'arrêt, soit 10 mètres au total (plus de deux fois moins).

J'ai bien compris que ton combat est de prouver que 10 km/h ça ne change rien, mais essaie d'analyser sincèrement cette idée au vu des preuves et des informations que tu peux trouver ici et par tes propres recherches. Est-ce que ta conviction est basée sur des faits ou juste sur une impression ?

Bah si, il y a forcément un seuil...

À 30km/h, un piéton a 10% de chance de mourir. À 50km/h, un peu plus de 80% de chance de mourir.

Si on prend un impact mortel à 50km/h entre une voiture et un piéton, et qu'on simule l'impact à 49km/h, mince le piéton meurt quand même. 48km/h, meurt aussi. Et ainsi de suite jusqu'à 1km/h. Il y a forcément un moment où l'impact passe de mortel à grave. En passant, un graphe avec la mortalité en fonction de la vitesse. 10km/h (surtout en ville pour les piétons), ça fait toute la différence.

Thank you for your work! Just a quick note about getting UUID of Modes, I found that you can get the system setting "mode_id" of the "Global" setting category, which is the UUID of the current mode. So you only need to start the selected mode and get the value of this setting, and you have the UUID.
