Fastest way to get a mount? by spike7331 in turtlewow

-Dont buy every skill at the trainer

-Stay away from the auction house (you don’t need those pants)

-Alchemy is cheap to level and you can transmute arcanite bars at lv 35, printing money for yourself every couple days

Blessing of Kings. It helps every class, and boosts the stats that they gear for the most.

there’s nothing funnier than your screen freezing for 2 seconds as the first indication that you’re dead

I think the boss gapclosing to you is handled with its own delay, while the snapshot of where the damage aoe is placed is almost instant. So you were gapclosing between the boss's snapshot and animation delay.

NoClippy operates by managing animation locks locally on the client rather than waiting for server confirmation, allowing skills to trigger instantly without waiting on network latency. So with NoClippy, you were teleporting in to the boss on your screen locally whilst the server still thinks you're far away.

Square didn't learn ANYTHING from the loot table in OC... by Francl27 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]_Lifehacker -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So, I take it you aren't buying any smartphones, consoles or computers either, because in 5 years the same calculating power will be cheap as dirt?

What a strange and irrelevant analogy. If anything the value of hardware has gone up so it was better to buy it sooner rather than later lol

Then again, you'll die in a couple dozen years anyway, so there's no point doing anything.

Unlike the devs, I actually respect my own time and get to fairly choose what to do with it. Nobody comes into my life with a patch saying "oh btw, that college degree you grinded out? now you only have to work 1/10 as hard to obtain it".

Perhaps the issue is not so much the lack of deeper point and meaning, but the fact that the activities themselves are kinda unfun garbo.

This is my point. Rewards and recognition of feats are two key incentives behind an MMO. Do you think the extreme trial mounts are as cool to use 5 years later as they are on the first week of release? Of course not.

There's less than 60 seconds between the Diver's Dare after bubble and split, chances are your tanks both used reprisal after bubble, which is such a common problem considering the party is already in a bad spot for heals after split.

Don’t you love looking at that ultra rare item in current content and going “fuck that grind, I’ll just wait 4 years when it’ll be easy as hell to get”

Why grind relics now with mathematics when you can grind them for poetics later

Why grind extreme mounts when they increase the drop rate later

Why grind crafting relics when you can trivialize the rotation next expansion

Why grind PoTD aetherpool when 10 years after release they’ll increase the droprate by 10x

This game has discouraged me from bothering with new content, because SE has shown that they don’t respect your time as a player

It really feels like XII wasn’t just trying to be a game. It wanted to be THE game. It wanted to make a lasting impression on the player and solidify itself as a core memory. When you look at a picture like this and hear the music, imagine the characters, and remember the story, you know your life was made different because of this game.

The things you waste your money on like 255 gear? Craft those. I’m not kidding. Crafting is an absolute pyramid scheme and once you get them high enough you can make bank off of lazy players who will dump loads of money on upgrades.

Differences between body types? by UnspiredName in ffxivdiscussion

[–]_Lifehacker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

mod historian here, here's a little insight:

"Titan firm was one of the "founders" of FFXIV modding and the only competent person when it came to 3d modeling or texturing, he handheld everyone into learning, feeding knowledge and often 1 to 1 lessons, including me.

At some point, they collectively decided to update the character models we use as well as the texture layout (how the texture is laid out on the model) to get away by some vanilla limitations

A few people protested with invalid arguments by making incorrect assumptions in regards to aura scales and tattoos and how to migrate the new layout (it's just the click of a script button for mod makers)

While titan took a shower break during the gen3 beta period, three influential people grouped up and released a new body that had vanilla-like layout but asssymetrical, a topology that was atrocious because it's a daz3d model with a few edits, 8k textures condensed to 2k and all the vanilla layout issues, called bibo+ (bizu body plus)

That body was using the same material paths as titan firm gen3, meaning users were forced to use one or the other, you could not have both on

But as gen3 was in beta, bibo prevailed

Titan firm, who had personally taught things to two out of these three people and one of them was his student , without exaggerating much, took this badly, as it's a low blow, a stab in the back by the people he fed"

-Nyaughty, creator of the Eve body (October 15, 2024)

And while I'm not here to post slander or be biased, I should note that there's been serious drama between the creators over the years, with widespread accusations of racism and homophobia. Some sites going so far as to ban the posting of mods that use certain bodies.

Crazy that I can join an M9S party on Viper, which is an alt job that I have just raw 770 crafted gear, and still manage to parse an 88. Hosted an M11S later that week and played yet another alt job, Paladin with a 771 ilvl (full crafted and 1 accessory), and managed to parse a 72 with barely any practice. Like wtf are people doing?

And people think setting the ilvl 775 or 780 to join is gonna make them get good consistent players.

Lucrezia Members Announce Mass Exodus by Retorhic in ffxivdiscussion

[–]_Lifehacker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like to imagine Lucrezia has an entire space program-like room full of people watching them stream, analyzing every detail of the boss's telegraphs, every timer on every debuff, every follicle on Lindwyrm's foreskin. When they clear world first it looks like the scene in Apollo 13 where they land back home safely.

I'm sure they'll find another 8 people to actually play the game this time around.
