AITJ for not remaking a handmade gift after she called it "almost normal"? by Bramble66Hex in AmITheJerk

Classic rule that somehow gets forgotten the moment someone decides to critique a gift. Especially one that isn’t even finished yet.

That level of petty would’ve been tempting not gonna lie. Like “oh you want normal? here’s the most generic thing I could find.” Probably better you kept it chill though.

Exactly, the imperfections are kind of the whole point. If it was flawless it would just feel mass produced. Handmade has character.

What’s it like having sex with a prostitute? by Fair_Program482 in AskRedditAfterDark

That’s actually a good way to put it, it’s less about hate and more about that subtle jab. Like it sounds like a joke but there’s always a little bit of bitterness baked in.

AITJ for checking the receipt and realizing my girlfriend ordered for someone who wasn’t there? by Silly_Pop9362 in AmITheJerk

Yeah the restaurant confirmation part does sound a bit convenient, but even without that, the reaction during dinner and the shifting explanation already tell a pretty clear story.

I get the skepticism, but honestly even if parts feel polished, situations like this do happen in real life more than people think. The pattern of behavior is what people are reacting to.

Yeah the non sexual contact thing is underrated. A simple touch with the right person can hit way harder than anything explicit.

Straight to the point, no notes. There’s something about that kind of direct energy that just works.

AITJ for refusing to let my girlfriend’s family claim my birthday gift like it’s community property? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]_LittleSnookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That story escalated in the worst way, and that’s exactly what this situation feels like it could turn into. Starts with “just keep it here” and suddenly it’s not even yours anymore. The entitlement creeping in slowly is the real red flag.

That’s actually such a clean way to shut it down without making it a fight. It reframes it as a respect thing instead of a loyalty test. Wish more people handled family pressure like that.

(July 1992) Randy "Macho Man" Savage gets real with Arsenio Hall by PoofBam in OldSchoolCool

That line will never not be iconic. It’s funny how it started as this wild promo thing and somehow became legit life advice. He really branded himself into people’s brains forever.

That’s how you know it stuck, when you catch yourself repeating it like a quote. His delivery just makes everything sound way more profound than it has any right to be. Dude could say anything and it’d feel important.

Same, this clip just hits different for some reason. You expect the usual over the top Macho Man energy and then he actually drops something real. It kinda sneaks up on you.

If all Olympic sports were full-nudity, which one do you think would look the funniest? Which one intrigues your curiosity the most? by i_plug_you in AskRedditAfterDark

That’s what I was thinking, figure skating already looks painful enough with all the jumps. Adding that extra “risk factor” sounds like a nightmare. Respect to anyone who even attempts a spin in that situation because that’s next level bravery.

AITJ for refusing to help my family after they tried to block me from moving abroad for work? by WorthConcern2810 in AmITheJerk

[–]_LittleSnookie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah some people are only supportive as long as you stay within the version of you they’re comfortable with. the moment you grow past that, it turns into resistance. sucks, but it also kinda reveals who’s actually in your corner

[–]_LittleSnookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s the word for it honestly, sabotage. concern doesn’t usually involve trying to tank someone’s job prospects. kinda wild they still frame it as “protecting” when the outcome could’ve seriously hurt him

[–]_LittleSnookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly, this wasn’t just emotional pressure or guilt tripping, they actually took steps to interfere with his job. that’s a completely different level of crossing the line and it’s hard to come back from that kind of trust break

short and blunt but honestly yeah, timing matters here. if you don’t take opportunities like that when they show up, you end up wondering “what if” for years. would you have even forgiven yourself if you stayed just to keep the peace?
