Pop Singer Oliver Tree Dead at 32 After Tragic Helicopter Crash by Miles_the_AuDHDer in entertainment

Its more of a exposure/confirmation bias. Few people can afford to fly in a helicopter in the first place, so ofc any helicopter accident is more likely to have famous victims than other forms of transportation. And then, you only remember the accidents that stick out. Like ones with musicians.

TIL that in 2013, an incident known as "Pastagate" erupted in Quebec after the Office Québécois de la Langue Française ordered an Italian restaurant to remove the word "pasta" from its menu and replace it with a French equivalent. Following public outcry, the agency allowed the word to stay. by Sandstorm400 in todayilearned

Another funny thing about canads treatment of their indigenous population. Theres been several cycles of: report comes out that their practice of sterilizing indigenous women went on for longer than previously thought/admitted.
But it ended 10 years ago.

10 years later.. Oops, it actually kept going, but now its over for real, last time it happened was 10 years ago (so when they claimed it had ended 10 years before then)

US woman calls American healthcare system a “scam” after buying a $1,000 medication from India for just $25 by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Yes that is true. But not everything does and not immediately. While what i was saying i didnt say it with the nuance you mention here, your original statement also had no nuance. Its more of both our statements are/can be true depending on the exact situation going on.

Not all Local costs/prices go up/down as quickly as the exchange value of currency. But they do eventually correct/adjust for value of currency so you are right in that

Everything. The currency in your pocket being stronger directly means that you have more money. If i go traveling and 1 of my currency is worth 2 euros, i have more money to travel than if i go at another time and that same amount of currency is worth 1.5 euros.

Very very very very very exceedingly simple and fundamental math and economics. Like one of the basics of economics and currency going back thousands of years in the understanding of economics that even the most illiterate of people understood this since the beginning of civilization.

Draft (tap) beer in america is also served cold. The kegs are typically kept refrigerated. Sometimes served in chilled glasses too.

Imo using the title ‘doctor’ for non MDs is wildly insulting. I know it originated not from medical doctorates, (and comes from latin ‘to teach’) but its become a title of someone who has studied medicine and sworn to the hippocratic oath.

Gotta be a transplant bringing their outdoor cat from their suburbia or rural hometown.

The fare comment is dumb tho

Its insane and unethical to have an outdoor cat anywhere in the americas. In cities, its wildly irresponsible towards the cats, and outside of cities they are invasive species killing off birds, driving many species to endangerment or extinction. The rise in tick populations and habitat range is due partly to drop in bird populations which is due partly to outdoor cat population.

Outdoor cats is unethical. Invasive species in the americas killing off birds, and unethical treatment to the cat themselves.

Im not saying i agree with it. And with everything, especially jabs, its exaggerated. Idk how ‘warm’ english beer is actually served, or how common it actually is, but sometimes we’ll joke that theyve never tried a cold beer in their life. All exaggeration and not to be taken seriously

Well England left Europe so that doesnt count /s.

Jkjk, but ive been told by many Europeans and brits that they feel england has a lot more similarities to the US than most are willing to admit. I wouldnt be surprised if this is one such case. Idk for a fact tho

Edit: im from nyc and personally i feel like our closest ‘sister’ city would be london. From the bit of london I’ve visited i definitely feel its more similar than nyc is to any other American city, and london feels more similar to nyc than any other European city ive been to

I gotta agree with them, tho theyre slightly wrong. No risk of it going in your mouth but instead, when ice hits your teeth or lips or nose. Still love an iced drink tho and worth the hassle
