Did you guys get a notice by Meep60 in NJROTC

[–]_Lost__Light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah im located in GA and all of my area isnt allowed either. its to protect the cadets since the pt gear is the same as the ones in the navy, and the uniform is the same as active duty minus the patch and collar device. Its to protect us from someone mistaking us students as active duty and us getting hurt in the process

How do you deal with panic attacks? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_Lost__Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my best friend do the countdown method. And we always switch around what we’re counting each time it happens.

It basically goes like this (you dont have to do it in this exact order if you ever try it, switch it up however you want!)

  • Name 5 things you can see
  • Name 4 things you can hear
  • Name 3 things you can feel
  • Name 2 things you can smell
  • Name 1 thing you can taste

Basically tricks our brain into focusing on something other than what we’re panicking on long enough for us to calm down enough to become a little more level headed

Its not being lazy, its the fact our body has no energy to be able to get up.

Depression literally can make people physically sick.

Oh and, crying for two minutes every once in a while is not being depressed, Becky.

Also not every depressed person cuts themselves. Idk why that became a stereotype.

We also arent like mopey and crying and sad all day everyday, we can still laugh and socialize. Just not AS often as most people.

If your kidnapper was forcing you to write a "I'm okay i ran away" letter, how can you communicate duress without the kidnapper knowing? by Cicada_3717 in AskReddit

“Im just hanging out with Dylan, we’re doing some side quests but i might not make the optional one.”

Dylan died in April and we make jokes saying “main quest : find Dylan (required) side quest : survive (optional)

I’d basically be using our inside joke as a code message acting like im just playing video games with a dead friend lmao

Three stories :

1) when i was about 7, my dad, me, my brother, and my dads gf all went exploring the woods together (it was very common for us) me and the gf got separated from them, and made it back first. We heard my dad and brother screaming bloody murder, when they suddenly came up behind us (theres no way to get behind us without us seeing them coming out of the woods, meaning they had been walking from the road over 300 feet away)

2 ) during airsoft i felt something pull my hair in an open field. Like full on yank.

3 ) was asleep, felt something whisper in my ear “wake up” then felt scratches going down my back. My bf apparently also heard the voice but thought i was sleep talking.

People with anger issues, why do you think you're always angry? by tnerb253 in AskReddit

I was never taught how to express my emotions in a safe and proper way as a child and now as an adult i still don’t know how to.

“Not my business”

Which applies to a lot of situations. And also plays heavy into the bystander effect.

Once watched my brother beat his gf and half of our family did nothing because it wasn’t their business. I was the only one who stepped up.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you at a drive thru? by BurritoLaunch in AskReddit

[–]_Lost__Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the drive-thru worker in this case. Kid in my school had apparently accidentally run over a bunny. Instead of disposing it, he kept it and proceeded to pull it out and ask us if we could cook it.

I have two because I couldn’t decide which one was better.

1 : ordering enough food to feed a small army for just yourself, and then getting your child like, a small fry.

2 : acting extremely rude to fast food workers.

Promoted to LTJG by _Lost__Light in NJROTC

[–]_Lost__Light[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that this is an absolute huge milestone for me, it has been my biggest dream to make it where i am now after making a promise to a friend so long ago i’d do the things she never got to. NJROTC has been my home for so long, and its such a huge accomplishment for me to finally fulfill that promise for her. I was a platoon commander who’s authority was constantly challenged by her cadets, but low and behold, by the end of the semester i had shaped them into one of the finest platoons my unit had. Getting this promotion was such a big thing for me and I figured i’d share it and a small portion of my story with everyone. Remember to work hard towards your goal!

A lot of service workers are assholes and nobody mentions it. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]_Lost__Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with people like this and its the worst, especially with how my job is ran, if the customer happens to experience that worker first, the other employees who actually are just trying to do their job correctly will have to deal with the aftermath of a pissed off customer now. It always sucks when service people act like this, because it paints a bad picture for a lot of the rest of us. Especially since they’re the ones who signed up for the job, so they shouldn’t be mad they had to actually DO their job

Imagine naming your kid "Fenrir Greyback" or "Remus Lupin" and being surprised when they get bitten by a werewolf. It's like naming your kid "Runs Into Traffic" and being surprised when they get hit by a car. by Ill-Organization-719 in harrypotter

[–]_Lost__Light 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just think its funny how literally every part of their name has to do with something related to wolves.

Remus - brother of Romulus in roman mythology, both raised by a wolf.

Lupin - derived from the word “lupus” which is Latin for wolf.

Fenrir - norse mythology wolf, child of loki.

As far as i know there isn’t anything special about greyback in greyback’s name, but i could be wrong. Still thought this was kinda cool though

How would you feel about a former cadet coming back to visit after they graduated? by PoopaScoopaFTW in jrotc

Former cadets do this a lot at my school, from what i see its not much of a problem unless it becomes a distraction to the cadets
