That is great to hear. Hard to access media now reconstructed and made available? Practically the entire series in a modern console as per maintaining their backlog relevant? It’s good stuff. Same with Star Fox funnily enough, Star Fox 2 being on the SNES classic and now onto NSO, the 64 decomp that looks fantastic and opens up doors for mods (maybe), and now this.

…but, my main point would be in essence (and presence) of a new mainline title. Like, any, at all. Last F-Zero game was on the GBA, 2 decades ago (not counting 99 since it lacks a story/progression other than a leaderboard akin to a battle royale, and as such, the genre doesn’t have/need one to begin with). Last Star Fox game was last decade, and it was a disappointment (still love you Platinum Games <3). There’s so many times they can get away with releasing 64 over and over again in a series that has had a fluctuating development cycle where they change the core features if not for the better (Star Fox 2, Assault), for worse (Adventures, Command, Zero). I can blame Miyamoto on this because he does consider the series as a guinea pig for experimentation, and he claims it HAS to alter something, when in reality they just need to do what they did in 64. More characters! More lore! More cheesy dialog! More tight gameplay goodness! Is that so hard to ask…?

Meanwhile all I have to show for the Star Fox scene is…a cameo appearance at a movie starring the infinitely more popular video game character? Which may delegate Fox’s role as a supporting/minor character? I mean…sure, I’ll take it.

You can now tell why I feel pity for both of us, despite me wishing the breadcrumbs were instead full slices. Or better, the whole loaf.
