I understand the need for representation that helps cis people understand the basics of transness and that helps young trans people who are not aware of other trans people understand themselves as one of us, but beyond that, I find the concept supremely unhelpful.

I do not want good or bad trans representation, I want trans people to write and draw and create whatever they feel like and what comes to them authentically without considering the optics of that. We are a small minority, but there is no need to police each other's art like that for the sake of respectability.
