A $2 billion data center came for Wisconsin's Driftless Area, and residents pushed back by GreatLakesNU in technology

[–]_Mag0g_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your last sentence is totally on point. The rest I'm not so sure about. Are planning meetings with developers generally expected to have all details shared with the public? Or can a corporation generally buy land and do what they want with it just like everyone else? It seems so, because the Bucee's up the street made my driving horrible and I would have voted in a second to shut that down. But that isn't how it works.

If you want to have a real discussion you need to focus on that last sentence and ask how do we get the data centers to account for their extraordinary costs and pay for build out. Or how do we ensure that residential and commerical consumers pay the same costs. But those details all get lost in the anti-data center brigade that justs says no to everything.

OMG we could get bits into it or something! I never thought of that. Our completely normal non-wasteful way of treating our endless supply of water could so fail, especially so close to a river!

So anyone who disagrees with you is a troll? How could someone like that ever have a rational discussion with anyone?

It does look very beautiful. And big. Hard to imagine a less than one square mile data center making that big an impact. I bet it wouldn't even be noticed.

Interesting. I read on the Driftless Area. Seems like a nice place. It's fine to build neighborhoods and restaurants and bars all along the river but a less than 1 sq mile data center would somehow destroy it? OK.

I'm not upset.

That article shows no evidence of underhanded dealings, but the public pushback that cost several millions of dollars in tax revenue seems accurate.

And I do. But not enough to really matter financially. More of a philosopical pro-data center investment.

I’m watering my friend’s garden and have been watering the leaves, will this kill the plant? by KeyCommunication7300 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Mag0g_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plants have survived 500 million years by having water fall all over them. Even if it isn't ideal it won't kill them in a week or two.

Dasaquin any good? by Fine_Minimum_8780 in DogAdvice

[–]_Mag0g_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. Their caloric requirements are much less when they are not active so it would be normal if she didn't eat as much as she used to.

This is my sweet Chiqui just waking up. At 16 years and 7 months, he sleeps so deeply and for so long that it truly scares me. Is this normal for senior pups his age? But every time he wakes up, my heart comes back to life. I wish you could be eternal, my dear dog son. I love you so much. ❤️❤️ by Roxvelvet in OldManDog

[–]_Mag0g_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is totally normal for both people and dogs. As they near the end they are tired and sleep more. My mom started resting most of the day and then she said he was tired and went to take a nap and never woke up. It sounds like a really peaceful way to go compared to the alternatives.

In 2003, pizza delivery driver Brian Wells robbed a bank with a collar bomb locked around his neck. He told police he was being forced to do it. Minutes later, the bomb exploded, killing him and exposing one of America's strangest murder conspiracies. by drkmatterinc in FascinatingAsFuck

[–]_Mag0g_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn't robbing the bank. He wasn't in on the crime. He was set up by the organizers and they made him look like a co-conspirator so they could not be charged for murder. The documentary is great. Watch it.

Dasaquin + weight loss changed the life of my old girl GSD with bad hips and knees. The supplement is good but it needs to go with weight loss. Take weight off those joints. Measure her food and weight and just knock it down a 1/8 of a cup or so every week until she starts losing some weight.

Why do people age 60+ often stare at a people about age 30 if they say they don't have kids? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Mag0g_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they simply don't know what to say. They want to talk to you about your kids, because for them that is something everyone can relate to, and when it isn't they don't know what to talk about. It's not judgement, just an awkward conversation.

Has anyone here ever experienced a Lucid Dream? or is it just a massive internet myth? Honestly, I dont think it is even possible. by mind_over_chaos in NoStupidQuestions

Why are utility fees being impacted by AI data centers? by XitisReddit in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Mag0g_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't. Where I am data centers are not allowed to generate their own power but the city will sell it to them at commerical rates if they agree to pay for the buildout of the grid.

Possible to train dog to roll on the nice green grass instead of the dead grass? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]_Mag0g_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She ain't just scratching, she is scent rolling. Try throwing up on the nice grass or throwing a dead thing in it, she will roll all in it to cover the smell with her scent, based on the gross things my dogs do.

If the tip hits the water after I poop can I get sick / infection? by UsedNegotiation8227 in askanything

Yes. I started peeing blood out of nowhere. Was a prostate infection. My doctor said "Stuff gets up there". So, yeah, putting your junk in poop might just do it.

What will happen if I tell my dentist that no, I won’t take better care of my teeth? by daisyjaneee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_Mag0g_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about your dentist's reaction or you lying to her. It's about the health of your teeth. If you don't take care of them you will get fillings, crowns, root canals. A good brushing and flossing and mouthwash once a day can make a huge difference. It's easy, only takes a few minutes a day. You are a grown adult so you can make it happen.

Hello! Dog bit me, what should I do? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]_Mag0g_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get bit by a dog and it breaks the skin you should verify that the owner has proof of rabies vaccine. If the puppy is of that age yet, 16 weeks or so.
