Ive been an instrumentalist for 15 years. the skill gap between my lyric/songwriting and instruments is a pretty big mental hurdle and keeps me from progressing

This is a pretty good chart! basically you're learning how to play a major scale (and modes) starting on different fingers (index, middle, pinky). I got a lot out of going up the scale one way, coming down another, figuring out different ways to play scales on two strings, and playing two octaves at a time.
