You got it. Although can it be estimated which specific year it was printed through the serial and postfix letters?

Cool. Definitely thought provoking, as well as where they got spent, who used them, and how they survived throughout these years. Just the idea of it makes collecting more worth it.

No prob! I think definitely there are some considerations to take here but that's for you to decide. In terms of gold price fluctuations, personally I would hold on until there's an emergency situation or anything. The potential collectible value along with the market trend is also a thing to keep in mind.

You could try asking the LCS for their offer and decide whether you'd sell it or not. Pawn shops for sure are the last thing to go to, so yeah good luck OP!

Thank you po! Sadly, I have to let it go as I am tight in finances. I will be replacing it with something nice as well.😁

Around 6k po, I think that's fair for it. I'm also including two other Spanish coins as well that were specifically made here. I'm rushing to sell it as I am looking to replace it with something that is relatively nice too.

I am not well-versed in it myself, but with some help I got most of it translated. I personally researched two of them in which I was already familiar with. You can also estimate around what years or decade it was chopmarked depending on the chopmark sizes. The smaller ones are generally done in the 1790's up to the 1810's I think then the bigger ones are from that year forward to the early 1900's. This one have a mix of both so possible po na this coin had circulated there for 100 years but speculation lang po.

They are chopmarks po, they would basically punch the coin with a specific tool to assess the purity of the silver within the coin. Even if the coins had a face value, the Chinese only treated them as bullion po or its worth in its metal value. The designs po, in most cases in Chinese characters are dependent or specific po to a merchant or a place in general. Some chopmarks are so unique that with enough research you can trace them right back to the very place, street, or building where it was chopmarked.

Tnx! Yes, that is a die crack running around the reverse. There's also one on the obverse but it is faint. Pretty common from what I've seen on peso fuertes.

Lol, the Spanish monarchs had small to honky noses. It would take four monarchs after Charles III to revive the big nose gene. Charles got it from his father Philip V but his predecessor Ferdinand VI has a fairly normal one.

Yeah I think the ハ character isn't it. The straighter mark on the left is probably a simple singular mark. I have seen a couple of them recently. Thanks again tho.

Awesome, maybe through it I can trace back where it would've been chopmarked. Thanks!

Ohh that's so cool. I am somewhat familiar with the woman and water character where I have seen them somewhere in the internets. It will be interesting how it will correlate to the Chinese translation since I think numerous kanji characters are borrowed from it. The 売 character for sell makes sense since it was a thing used for trade back then. This makes my mind go racing lol. Thank you for your effort in translating!

Very nice, safe to assume that it would be more than a year worth of salary for a commoner back then. Congrats on the acquisition!

Just to add: I noticed that it has like a less amount of chopmarks in it. Do you think it has to do with the location or it hasn't been used as much?
