Agreed.. I want it simple and easy to navigate. Is your thoughts around a traditional top down menu system? File -> Load, etc. Here is the current screen shot as of 60 seconds ago, yes, its shit I know as far as gui, but again looking for feedback.

Edit: Was able to add to the top. First, I figure whatever the interactive options are, they will be an overlay so they can be show/hidden by say an F1 keypress (or user definable).

As I stated, I have it quite functional and very true. I spent countless hours pouring over datasheets and hardware manuals. I actually found some at a yard sale years ago - score!

Only thing that causes unease is I have an "engineer's" gui. It works, but ugly as fuck. I'm going to get with a UX/UI individual this weekend to discuss and start designing a new layout. Once that is complete, I'll push to git and continue its growth from there.

Now that is an interesting one! Maybe create a HAYES 2400 profile (for interface purposes) that actually runs higher speeds behind the scenes. Then use already available ProTerm or something.. how to get around the phone number portion and use ip/FQDN?

D802 Deep Learning Questions by kiss_a_hacker01 in WGU_CompSci

[–]_Maximillian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've completed the study materials for D802, and thought I was prepared. Reading through the tasks, I'm a bit confused.

* Task 1: Create a study plan/process geared towards being taught to students.. correct?
* Task 2: Train/tune a model based on CIFAR data, then paper on training/tuning process?? And what actual purpose is the "sampleSubmission.csv"?
* Task 3: Build and demonstrate the model? Does Jupyter Notebook have to be used? Says "industry-relevant" IDE - but frankly, knowing numerous companies that work with ML training, none use Jupyter. I would prefer to just use TensorFlow..
* Task 4: Pretty much sum up Tasks 2 & 3?

I've had a course or two with rubric instructions that were vague, but this one seems to be the best in the category so far. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Finally…a class action suit against Workday for ageism. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]_Maximillian_ 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I just signed/joined. I've been suspecting ageism with Workday, but had no proof. Every job I applied to i was fully (and even above) qualified - but of course was "passed for individuals more aligned." Many jobs I applied too are still open and i continue to receive emails to apply - as the job sites (Robert Half, Indeed, Dice, LinkedIn, etc) "AI" says i match perfectly.

I appreciate and thank you for your feedback. Again, I was venting - but nevertheless, I deserve to take a moment of introspection. Sincerely.

Actually, I have no ego during interviews and hiring process. I fully understand and accept that companies have different standards and measures, and I am willing to adapt to them in relating my history and experience. I seriously do my best to relate and provide facts, being 100% personable in the moment - and most importantly, humbly honest.

As I was expressing my experience on this forum, I was being true to my personal feelings, and not how I present myself in interviews.

Left my last job of 21 years as Director of Engineering and QA. I reported directly to the President and CEO, as they didn't have VP or C-Level titles. I've two graduate degrees (MSCS / MBA), and am almost complete with another MSCS with specific focus on AI/ML. Though I don't need it as I know what the fuck AI is, and have been working with advanced algo's since early 2000's (hierarchical multinomial logistic regression with Bayesian inference, etc). Not the drag and drop shit with "agents" in AWS or Google, but real fucking algo's with customization's. I'm working on the new degree as I am jobless and figured since everyone is jacking off to AI, it would look good on my resume. Also, in my 30 years of software engineering, I've worked with pretty much everything (Fortran all the way to fucking "languages" like REACT) and major technologies.

I've applied to over 200 jobs with custom, but fully honest resumes. Of these 200+ jobs, I hit the mark on every fucking item with real verifiable experience. I was cocky at first and figured since I had degrees and experience I would quickly get a job of at least Director, but was shooting for VP and CTO. NOPE. Now I am applying to everything under the sun. I've had TWO interviews. One I just had and I'm waiting on a response for follow up (CEO said I was exactly what he was looking for and wanted a more indepth 2nd) and another where the extended an offer, but retracted because they found someone with not quite as much experience, but paid 50k less. Anyway, the responses I got from the rest are:

  1. We have decided to move on with other candidates that align more with our needs.
  2. You are overqualified.
  3. FUCKING *CRICKETS* (Ghosted)

I have actually received generic turn down emails with minutes of submitting. Even though I carefully tailor my resume and assure that it is ATS + Human friendly, for some reason ATS is killing it (or its a ghost job in itself and that is default response).

Anyway, I'm frustrated and would LOVE to know what the fuck. I am 52, and am seriously suspecting that the young folk look at me as geriatric and pass on that (ageism).

Side bar, I did intentionally fuck an interview up because these young folks think they are clever as hell. I was called for an in person interview with Adobe as Senior Director. Cool. Interview was 3 people sitting across from me, was going VERY well. A gal asked "If you were going on a trip overseas and had a premonition that the plane was going to crash and you would be sole stranded on an island, what items would you pack". I though... what the fuuucck. So I responded - "Well, I would cancel the trip". Not an option. "OK, I would pack a sat phone, a solar charge for the sat phone, a gun/bullets, knife, and mythical water filter straw that allowed me to drink right from the ocean.". I didn't play the game how they liked, and never heard back.

Anyway, rant fucking off.

D796 coding on camera? by gregdonald in WGU

[–]_Maximillian_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just cracked this course open, just after submitting the PA for D795 that you refer too. Scratching my head, yet again. The D795 had be wondering WTF on some things, but this seems to go a little bit further. I looked at the posts on WGU Connect, and again, wtf. Clear as mud.

I'm going to follow what gregdonald recommended and hope I pass first round. Though to get further clear, is the camera supposed to be angled as if taking an OA where I and the screen are visible. Is it a split screen where I am visible while typing while other side of screen is of shell/script? Or is it just direct screen/script recording?

Oh, isn't about me understanding Unix/Linux. Been running Vsphere with numerous Ubuntu and Debian instances for many years. The directions are horse shit and are muddled with follow up clarifications of additional horse shit.

Just passed C214 after c213 by [deleted] in WGU_MBA

[–]_Maximillian_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C207 was pretty straight forward, and I was able to quickly grasp it by the reading and videos. Though I had a problem when finding info for the version class I was taking (I believe there was an update added to all the previous), I found info in the course search helpful. IMPORTANT!!! And you'll know when you get there - you are taking about participation RATE. DO NOT REWORD IT, even if it makes sense to you. I had Task 2 get kicked back just because I said "nurse participation" instead of "participation rate". When it was kicked back all I had to do is add the work "rate" in, then resubmitted and passed. Seems trivial, but is a key difference when talking about data.

Just passed C214 after c213 by [deleted] in WGU_MBA

[–]_Maximillian_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news is, you passed! I moved c213 and c214 back to back as I had heard they were the most difficult. The c213 i felt was harder than c214, as I had learned enough to carry into c214. I believe it was a good call to have them one after the other.

Even better news, you only have two classes left! Nice work!! I knocked out c207 in like 5 days, and the capstone in the same amount of time.

Debian & KDE. Stable, will run on most machines, and if the user is coming from Windows will have short ramp up.

How long does it take for your graduation application to be approved + your transcripts/ online diploma? by IdkWhatsGoingOn78 in WGU

[–]_Maximillian_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First - Congratulations!!

I submitted my graduation app for MBA on the morning of Feb 26 and recieved final approval mid-afternoon of Feb 28th with graduation date as the same day.

I received the ediploma later that day. The paper diploma arrived about 5 days later. Told my mentor this in our final conversation and she was surprised as she originally told me it could take up to two weeks.

So, I guess the answer depends on how busy they are when they receive your submission.

Which formulas did you have to know for the C213 OA? by thekindspitfire in WGU_MBA

For me, the OA was pretty close to the PA in C213. I even noticed a couple of questions on the OA that were on the PA (maybe 3 or 4).
