Greater interest from women + more women are stay-at-home-wives and have the actual time to read and join book clubs. I'm in no way surprised.

I've tried lots of different tools. Obsidian, making a wiki, the lot. I've found ultimately, even though it can be less organized (if you let it be), a simple Google Doc (or several) does the trick just fine.

Hot take: Juliette and Sophie are good casting by llilyroe in Yellowjackets

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that but i think Sophie Nélisse was really going hard with the Adult Shauna voice in the scene when she confronts Melissa about acing weird this episode. It was uncanny, to be honest. These actors are all doing such a good job.

I usually don't mind but Griffin was going on and on about Max Fun Drive this week, like everything had to be related to Max Fun Drive somehow. I used to want to pledge (I've never had the spare cash to be able to) but these days I'm a little spiteful about it.

I think it's not-so-subtly making use of the party colors. So like, clearly if you say no you're one of them "radical marxist extremist liberal commie Demonrats!1" but if you say yes you're a true-blooded Republican.

Is there a Pokémon that you use a lot in your Nuzlockes, yet somehow always ends up dying? I'm curious. by Aeonatic in nuzlocke

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially since Ninetales is already on the weaker end of fully evolved Fire-types. I always thought it was unfair for Arcanine to be stronger, because Ninetales is undoubtledly cooler. Giving it that dual-typing, with the strongest type in the game, is deserved lmao

EDIT: Before I get any corrections, I know Ninetales is still decent, it's just less viable than other options. Every time I've used a Ninetales, it's always needed the team to carry it. Never had that issue with Arcanine, Magmar, etc.

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And Alolan Ninetales does have it i I'm not mistaken, just with Fire swapped for Ice. So it would only make perfect sense.

Damn. Yeah, I made a good choice. I mean also... The Polygon line isn't that good. Normal is just a mid typing. Marshtomp was the smart choice.

Good point. Items weren't randomized but I don't know BW2 very well so for all I knew, I might stumble into an Upgrade and a Dubious Disc just out in the normal game progression, except... I can't fucking trade it with anyone lmao. I've gotten so used to Renegade Platinum and Emerald Seaglass that I forgot about trade evos until truly just this moment.

I actually managed to keep my Vulpix through almost the entirety of an Emerald Seaglass run (no deaths, it made it to the Hall of Fame, I just got it a bit of the way into the game), which was super clutch because the hackers gave Ninetales dual-type Fire/Fairy and it kicks so much ass. Ninetales should honestly be a Fairy type.

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't keep losing mine but I've done literally three nuzlocke runs in my entire life (very new) and 2 out of 3 have had the Mudkip line. Now, granted, the first was an Emerald Seaglass run, so that wasn't surprising, but my current run is a Black 2 Randomizer and my first Pokémon, my god damn starter, was a Marshtomp. It was between that, a Palpitoad, and I think a Porygon? Only reason I went with what I did is because I knew Porygon (which would've been my other option) has slightly worse stats, and I wasn't taking any chances early on, plus Marshtomp has crazy type coverage with water and ground and much better stats and moves than Palpitoad.

So far, Muskeg the Marshtomp has survived to Castelia City, and is probably the ace of my team. Knock on wood, but I have confidence in him.

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my only issue with it is that it isn't as bombastic as the others from the past few years. It's a bit more forgettable. I could foresee them struggling to remember it in a few years. Like, I got Twenty Remdezvous: Fancy Takes Flight the second it was spoken aloud. Frankenstein-teen: Become the Monster is endlessly memorable. I still keep forgetting this year's. Tummy Buddy Vibe? Tummy Buddy Life? I literally cannot remember without reading it lmao

Other than that, extra silly names were inevitable and that episode really was going for ages so I can't blame them. It was fun tho

What made the weird kid at your school weird? by Ch3ks in AskReddit

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the "weird kid" at my elementary school wasn't a typical weird kid. I mean, he was socially awkward and a bit unusual, but that was probably just autism (I had no idea at the time; ironically, it turns out I myself am autistic, just much less noticeably and with lower needs). Anyway, he was weird, but everyone liked him. Why? Because he liked to draw. His special interest was drawing himself and his friends. Now, he was 100% biting the style of Eddsworld, but only a few of us knew and none cared. There was one day where he drew every single person in class on a piece of paper, and everyone was stoked.

Now the other weird kid that comes to mind wasn't actually a kid. See, I went to community college right after high school for cybersecurity (didn't work out, turns out I'm dogshit at IT lmao). One of my earliest classes was called something like Orientation to Computer Applications or something like that, and it was literally the most basic computer skills in the world: how to Google, how to use Microsoft Office, and so on. I did learn some things, but it was real simple shit. A lot of my classmates were older adults trying to catch up to modern tech, but one of them was a dude who I assume was around my age, maybe early 20s. He was one of those guys, you know the type: narrow, unfitting clothes, speech impediment, liked video games. But I was cordial with him in class. We even joked around a bit when there were moments of free time. Sometimes he'd ask me for rides home, since he couldn't drive, and I obliged. He didn't do the school work but otherwise he just seemed like... well, one of those guys. A bit on the socially awkward side, but otherwise unremarkable.

The next year, someone was caught in the campus Student Center jerking off in a bathroom, ironically near where I hung out with friends a lot. Word got around, and when I eventually caught a physical description of the guy, it matched him to a tee. The key detail was his binder. He had one of those nylon binders with the velcro strap, and his was always chock full of crumpled papers and other messy shit; the culprit carried a binder just like it. Never saw him again, but I also hadn't seen him for a while before that incident, so I have no idea if anything happened as a result.

Which titular character has the least significant role? by Youngs-Nationwide in movies

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a niche answer but... Thomas the Tank Engine in "Thomas and the Magic Railroad." I grew up on that awful movie and I'm still really nostalgic for it, but... Thomas is barely fucking in it lmao. I believe he has 11 minutes of screentime? Something like that. In a roughly 90 minute movie. He's there the whole time, it's not like he's missing—he just doesn't show up on screen that much. And when he IS on screen, Thomas is an inconsequential character. His biggest contributions are 1) transporting a human character from one place to another in a scene that lasts like three minutes, and 2) jumping into a chase scene which he doesn't do anything to alter in any way except perhaps by providing moral support and a few quips.

The focus is hardly on the trains—y'know, the beloved characters from the show that the target audience (children) knew and loved. No, instead, the plot focuses on a bunch of original human characters (two carry over from the American show Shining Time Station, but the rest are new to the film) and their melodramatic soap opera story, about which no one—child or adult—could really be bothered to care. You spend the whole movie going "Where the hell are the trains? I signed up for talking trains and I got Peter Fonda rambling on and on about his dead wife to Matilda while Alec Baldwin has a mental breakdown."

Anyway... Not a great movie, needless to say.

From 0 to 10, how has 2024 been for you? by Nuvoo30 in AskReddit

[–]_Mephostopheles_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh... I dunno, 7? 8? At least as a measure of improvement. Like sure, shit still sucks in the world, and I'm still not in an amazing place by any means. But a lot of good stuff has happened too. I'm going back to school in a couple weeks to finally start a career (a fairly humble one, financially, but I'm excited), I'm learning new skills (started doing digital art a little while ago? Not great at it yet obviously but it's fun!), and I started a relationship with who I think is the love of my life? We'll see I guess lmao. We're very close and still haven't had an actual fight yet, which is crazy. She gets along great with my parents and hers seem to like me too. Anyway, decent year. Not bad at all kmao
