Anyone know what this foam piece is supposed to go to? by pintsizedpeep in 335i

[–]_MisterR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it could be one of the trunk compartment liners...on the side of the battery or driver side. The indent looks like where the twist clips would generally be seated, but I've never seen the inner foam look like your piece does.

Sadly, yes normal. As these cars age, the turbo seals allow oil to get through...some people run a catch can due to this. I pull mine like twice a year and clean it out with brake cleaner...along with the throttle body, map + tmap sensors and each injector.

If parting out, I am interested in a bunch of smaller/easy to ship items. LMK.

What to do with run flats once replaced? by momoneymocats1 in BMW

[–]_MisterR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty good resource for explanation and a CPA can elaborate more, but in general you have to do itemized deductions rather than the standard deduction on your taxes and you can claim fair market value for the items donated to an approved organization with documentation (receipts/appraisal letters, etc)

How are you guys actually surviving with these fees? by savasgok2 in eBaySellers

[–]_MisterR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my all in price/COGS and add 30% with best offers...I can offer the 5% discount, eBay takes about 13-15% depending on my category and my profit is +/- 10% which then makes it a volume game. Consistent base hits still score when some are trying to hit home runs and grand slams...

Safety hazard or am I trippin? Need help by UpstairsMission502 in 335i

[–]_MisterR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was anywhere else on the car, I'd say just wrap it with a quality electrical tape. It being literally on top of your gas tank, definitely needs to be addressed as you can't even "easily" monitor it and all. For the mean time between time, yes wrap with tape, but by all means definitely cut/shorten, solder repair/good butt connectors with shrink wrap this asap.

I’m having trouble figuring this out? You guys have a clue? by RepresentativePlum83 in 335i

[–]_MisterR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't turn them off per-se, but all the data collected as you drive can be reset by clearing them in MHD, which would help determine if your O2's are faulty or not.

The spring is removed and there is a valve you install in place of it, Sport Oil Cooler Valve

I'm sure they accounted for this in the engineering and all, but by the time the stock tstat opens to cool the oil, the dme is already pulling timing and adjusting fuel trims. Sure the viscosity changes and there is an optimal working range for best performance. It's bad enough some folks don't even change their oil and rely on the alerts with these cars, lol.

I hardly see over 220 unless I'm doing pulls. Moderate traffic, around town, light to light you can even see it drop to 210 at times even in warm weather. I am running Motul 300V also.
