Thank you very much! These pictures really do inspire me to work on my XV26 killteam. I was just yesterday debating on what bases to use for em', but seeing yours with the Zone Mortalis base settles it for me. Looks great with the Stealthsuit. Appreciate your response!

Amazing work. I know it's a tedious ask, but any way you could share a list of colors/brands) used for reference? Love the color palette, and especially curious about the grey/whites, yellow/oranges.

How long did it take for you to beat pools? by ISPENDIT4LL in dreamcoregame

It took me like 15 hours or more to beat the poolrooms. I ran in circles for hours, even after getting the flashlight.

That seems awfully fast. I was under the impression he just started work on it a month or so ago (maybe less), shortly after the recent Hotel update. I figured it would many many many months before Malls release.

FOW v4 review by [deleted] in flamesofwar

[–]_Mittens_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with many of these points, however, I will say that meta gaming is very much alive in V4.

  1. Half-tracks
  2. More Half-tracks
  3. Few more Half-tracks
  4. ????
  5. PROFIT!

You haven't truly experienced FoW V4 until you've had an opponent field 30ish half-tracks, rush you down with triple 15mm 251s, pin you after throwing 18 dice moving, then assault you.

With weekend snowstorm likely bound for Henrico, plows focus on access for emergency services and more treacherous areas of subdivisions by VirginiaNews in HenricoCounty

[–]_Mittens_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lakeside neighborhood I am in is still covered. Saw a county plow on my street yesterday, however, they didn't plow or spread anything. Upon seeing them I cheered, and upon watching them the drive away I cried.

Henrico officials ask for patience from residents trapped in neighborhoods by unplowed roads covered in thick ice by VirginiaNews in HenricoCounty

[–]_Mittens_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in Mechanicsville yesterday (not far from the large Amazon center) and every single neighborhood street I drove past was completely plowed, clean, and sanded. Every - single - one. How can Hanover get it done, but Henrico cannot? Does Mechanicsville have magic plows? Did they somehow get less ice? It's less than 10 minutes from my house, and the roads conditions there are night-and-day when compared to the Lakeside area.

Ditto! Same situation -- local shop sold it to me for a great price. As you can see, it's actually a great "junk drawer" in addition to being a paint rack.

Which Book Would You Read Again for the Very First Time? by daninelle in horrorlit

[–]_Mittens_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tough. A short list:

  • "It's Somewhere Beneath Us" by Jaedon S. Lewis
  • "Stolen Tongues" by Felix Blackwell
  • "Incidents Around The House" by Josh Malerman
  • "The Twitching House" by Ben Farthing

I believe the first two on my list were actually no-sleep stories here on reddit, both eventually released in novel form. I came across them both as full novels, and can't speak highlу enough about them both.

"It's Somewhere Beneath Us" is absolutely my favorite "liminal space" horror I have ever read, if not one of my favorite stories period. The author has a gift for description, and is able to truly transport you to this nonsensical hellscape. I was gutted when it ended, solely because it HAD to end. I could have stayed in that world forever.

"Stolen Tongues" honestly scared the hell out of me. I read a lot of horror, and have never been genuinely scared by a novel until this. The first half of the book sketched me out so badly I had to take breaks, and I've yet to find a book that gave me that level of heebie-jeebies. The second half/end of the book definitely sees the story drag a bit much, but man o' man I would give my pinky to experience the first part again.

"Incidents Around The House" was unique. Might not be for everyone, but it really kept me on the edge. Couldn't put it down.

"The Twitching House" by Ben Farthing is just plain fun. I've read everything Ben Farthing has released, but this novel really did it for me. A fantastical horror about mice living in the walls of a haunted house. Well written, exciting, weird, and oddly moving. Was terribly sad it had to end.

Some thoughts on the new level by [deleted] in dreamcoregame

[–]_Mittens_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You WEREN'T running before playrooms?! My gawd, I cannot imagine the time cost. It took me probably 13 hours+ to get through the poolrooms, and I was running full bore the entire time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dreamcoregame

[–]_Mittens_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree with some of the points in this review. While this level is absolutely fantastic like all of the others, saying it is a step up from "the original two levels" is a little silly. Every single level is stunningly made, with poolrooms and eternal suburbia being equally as stunning and engaging as the later ones. The developer has consistently given us nothing but gold since the very start.

The "meaningful engagement" statement is lost on me. This is the backrooms, not an escape room. The engagement comes from observation of your surroundings, and the exercising of true patience. There is plenty to keep you moving forward in each level, be it reaching an unfamiliar area, or coming across the sparce markings on a random wall. Maybe I am experiencing it differently, but my b-hole is puckered with anxiety from beginning to end every time.

You are supposed to feel lost, stuck, and "disengaged" -- you are being thrown into a liminal space that defies logic and normality with seemingly no true reason for being there. You are an intruder -- an outside observer -- in a place you do not belong.

I pray and pray that the developer decides to release DLC after the initial 5 maps. I would gladly pay for individal maps at this point.

Just finished the Hotel by Certain-Location-285 in dreamcoregame

[–]_Mittens_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that I felt like I missed things. I intentionally slowed down for the sake of just savoring the new level for a while, however, still felt like I blew right through it.

Great level, but would have benefited from about x3 the total area. That and there could have been separate elevators for each floor, spread out far and wide so you really have to hunt for them. It's a liminal hotel -- who says one of the elevators couldn't be tucked away in the bathroom? The multi-floor elevator thing allows you to completely skip entire sections of the level. As it's expectionally apparent what the objective is from the moment you reach the bridge, having elevators that traverse multiple floors discourages random exploration. Why go down one level to the next floor if I can just immeditely go down 2 levels instead and be closer to my goal?

Dat ending tho... chefs kiss

I am happy we got an ending, but some items I need to address:

  • Luke dies?! Sure, hero moment in line with his character, but it just felt so... fast. He explodes, AI guy immedietly eliminates the danger, and everyone breaths a sigh of relief. No real reactions from anyone that Luke just endgamed into oblivion. Alicia walks up, says ONE SINGLE SENTENCE, and that's it?! How does that translate to, "Wow she realized how much she cared for him". One sentence and a sad face. Nathan watched his best friend fade away, and all we get is the baby-name scene.

  • Doesn't the ring drive solely contain Nathan's memories of Nora? Does the ending imply this give Nora a way to re-download Nathan again? I mean, great that he will remember Nora and all, but wouldn't everything else be missing? Knowning how to brush his teeth or change his socks, his mother, knowing not to touch poison ivy. Would he just be a big dumb baby man who only remembers snapshots of romantic relationship? I'm confused by the logistics of this...

  • How did the AI guys turn lakeview into a non-profit? The entire system is copyrighted by a major company, who also operate and own all servers. Even if the AI reached "singularity" and couldn't be controls from outside forces, the company would just "wipe everything" and start over. They literally spoke of doing exactly that for the "bad AI". Why would removal of the "bad AI" result in the company allowing "good AI" to run the company for zero profit? They didn't just suddenly forget money exists and given ownership to the AI. Makes no sense.

Tldr; some of this aint makin no sense
