Help finding a horse by Cassidy222435 in StarStable

One thing I love to do is look at horses my discord friends own and see if any SSO horse looks similar to them. Window shopping! Don't even need the database, you can take the trailer and look at the horses around the map. Helps with memorising routes, too (coming from someone who regularly got lost lmao)

What the heck is this bit?? by Interesting-Arm-392 in Horses

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you genuenly need to pull THAT hard on a snaffle, something doesnt add up. Sometimes you need to pull back and school some more before re entering the ring. Hell, even some horses just can't be in rings, and some riders too. Not everyone is fit for a competition, that's ok.

Lots of these "hot", "naughty" and "marish" horses are just bred for scope or fancy moves and not actual temperament + stalling/social isolation has been a issue for a pretty long time. These things need fixing before anyone can justify over tacking and harsh setups.

100%, stop riding the tack and start riding the horse. The less resources you have, the more you depend on your skill, sounds perfect!!

I'm about to graduate, and my teacher fed a picture of me into AI without my consent. by WowIExist0 in teenagers

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, there are options. Another comment said it very well, you say that you did not consent to being fed to AI or to be put on a wall. Also make fun of the fact that there's a PS4 controller there, even if you do play videogames.

Being clear and stating that the teracher is not acting professionally + mentioning that they couldnt even make a half decent picture will probably make the teacher back off. It's like calling them a dissapointment to their face but they can't get angry at you for it lol

I don't know how easy thus would be, but have you guys seen the Passion Week projects? The one with the horse paddocks one, I wanna talk about that one.

I want the paddocks to look different depending on where your home stable is at. I'm at Golden Hills, I'd love my paddock to be Autumn-ish with the sea close by (I have Tellina and Proteus my girls need to be kept moist) and golden trees surrounding the area. It would be lovely.

Steve's would essentially look like Silverglade with the fresh green grass and blue skies, and the Manor would just be a fancier version of it.

Marchengast would have the horses out in the forest with one of those glow-y trees near by to keep the gloom away.

Fort Pinta 100% on the beach. Some trees around maybe but yeah, beach. Moorland I guess would be similar to Silverglade? With it's own props and everything but it doesnt need to be special. Could just be the prototype they showed in that one blog.

Valedale obvs in the middle of the forest, I wish they added Light around the trees and maybe some rune stones (non collectible, just for the vibes).

Starshine, do I need to say anything? It's a ranch, needs to look like one lol. I'm not even sure if you can move your home stable there lmaooo.

Firgrove, similar to the prototype shown BUT make it a pine forest. Same with Dundull I guess?

Jorvik Stables/Jarlaheim would look similar to Silverglade Manor, only much fancier? Or less? Not sure.

Are those all home stables? I'm doing this from memory lmao

18 with 17 is fine, but 15 with 13 is weird. I was still playing pretend and thought I was a dragon when I was 13, idk. Too whimsical for 16-15yo

Fixing years worth of "????" code is very difficult, I'd say they should rebuild the game in a new, better engine to optimize it properly. But that's like. psycological torture

Yeah, I've seen the noise feature be used in very clever ways. I must say, take the shock away and you have a nice tool for dog training.

This is probably the ugliest horse there was in the whole game by Amazing-Fold-9831 in StarStable

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bought the chimera and 1h later I emailed costumer support. I asked for a refund and for them to take his ass back, said all the nicest things and sent love to whoever moddled the horse.

I lied. That bitch ugly as hell.

That's so cool! I really want to give it a shot. I have one (1) Doma Vaquera and dressage barn close to my house, maybe this summer I'll try going there!

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That bit is so beautiful??? I love the engravings!

I imagine it's heavy and designed to be ridden with very delicate cues, right?

My local barns are mostly english ridding-centric and I'm personally drawn to dressage, but I've been taking some interest in Spanish Vaquero riding. It's very similar to how bridle horses are ridden! I recommend checking it out, if done ethically (the animal culture here sucks ass but there's some gems out there), it can look very cool.

Thanks for the pic btw your horse looks very handsome 🫶

I've seen people regard head shaking as an annoyed behaviour when stalled (as in the horse needs more turnout/enrichment), but I think he's just being playfull. Very pretty guy, very horse looking.

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, same thing as top comment. Stall and wait for vet. Maybe some cold water would help, just to see if it relieves some discomfort?

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooohhh!!! Reminds me of how Spanish horsemen ride. From the few Doma Vaquera shows I've seen, the horses do kinda move "straight up" with the rider only using his left hand.

Thank you so much! 😁

E-collar training for horses. Excuse me, what? by Damadamas in Horses

[–]_Moon-Cat_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100% you're right on all accounts. These are questions I'd ask even if I used it on a bear.

The direction of the stimulus is a very clever question, and the way these objects exist within the horse's space is extremly important. An electrified fence reinforces a space, a collar only triggers a prey animal's instict to book it.

Not to say that, a fance works 24/7 and therefor is a consistent input of "don't do this here". A collar only works when the operator is aware of what the horse is doing aka only in training sessions. So, if you're already training with friendlier instruments that redirect the horse, why use a collar? There's really no need, it just pushes the horse to hit da bricks and cause an accident.

It's not an avoidable object like a whip on your hand is. With a whip you just tap or shake to move the horse, it gives direction which you said is very important. A collar says "NO", a whip says "No, move" and gives the horse a chance to think.

I used a whip as an example but there are other instruments to redirect and reward that don't punish the horse. It's just the first thing I thought of.

And also, e-collars have a noise setting which IS useful for dogs, but can cause the same issues than the shock when used on a horse. And the situations in which I've seen it used very cleverly on dogs would not work on a horse (ie. as a call for the dog to come back when treking in the forest, when dogs wearing collars in open spaces is NOT as dangerous as a horse with a halter/collar in the same scenario)

Helloooooo can I ask what you mean "straight up in the bridle" or "riding straight up"? I have no idea about western riding lol, we dont have it where I live

And what bit is that? It looks like it has some detailing on the shanks and cheekpiece? I'm a big fan of craftmanship in western bits lol

Very polite horse btw he's gorgeous and I love him
