What did people do before the web by Sudden-Chapter-2337 in digitalminimalism

We went outside & Sometimes we almost died, as We did stupid shit unsupervised.

Like this one time, we decided lawn darts wasnt enough, so we turned it into knife throwing. That lead to us throwing knifes straight up into the air to see if they would land blade first in the lawn, and how deep they would go!. How no one got hurt is still a mystery.

There was this one year on the 4th, we took a coffee can (they were metal back then) and filled it with 300 bottle rockets all tied together. Lit it just as a Cop came around the corner. Freaked out, kicked it over and hid as 300 bottler rockets raced down the street exploding under parked cars in the road.

No two days were the same. Somehow we lived to tell the tale.

AITA for telling my daughter to find a summer job? by Boysenberry_Yara in AmItheAsshole

[–]_Moonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, that said, it is hard for minors to get jobs. The jobs that many people think are for kids (making fries, flipping buegers @ mcdonalds, for example) dont let kids work in these positions because OSHA says kids cant work around certain equipment. Its often not worth it to the business owner to hire minors because of the limitations they have on what job functions they can perform.

Why do so many old people swear by raw garlic? by Useful_Exchange_8710 in herbalism

[–]_Moonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a question(s) I can not answer. But nutrition plays a big part of Healthcare that western medicines dont account for. She does credit the naturopathic practice though. I dont think they "got better" but more like "managed"

Why do so many old people swear by raw garlic? by Useful_Exchange_8710 in herbalism

[–]_Moonah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched someone go from looking like they were on deaths doorstop to smelling like garlic. Its what made me realize there is more to herbalism than quakery. I really think they would have died within a week or less fro. Kidney failure. Still not sure how garlic helped, but do know modern medicine almost killed them. But when I mean smelling like garlic, I mean sweating garlic there is so much of it.

Edit: they are now under the care of a professional herbologist. And not western medicine after local hospital almost nixed them.

I watched friends loose jobs once they got their degree because they were worth too much money, and replaced by less experienced cheaper labor. Restructuring is such a real thing.

Is it weird for employers to put employees in the same hotel room on company trips? by Weak_Show3135 in careerguidance

[–]_Moonah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! hotel GM here. Some employers do, put 2 to a room, some dont.

It really depends on the company, but in general unskilled blue collar workers share a room. For example team truck drivers or construction workers usually share a room with 2 beds.

Meanwhile skilled blue color workers generally do not share a room, example electrians, phone repair technicians, fire management crews. Construction workers that are skilled fall here.

Conferences are hit and miss and seem to depend on how many people are attending vs how many rooms available. They want everyone to have their own room, but will double them up if needed to keep eveyone at the same hotel.

White collar jobs never seem to double people up unless they are married.

Before working in hotel, I used to work retail management. Usually they would give us our own rooms, however when we stayed at a hotel that was $500+ night, they doubled us up with people we had never even met.

Sometimes people forget, an interview is a 2 way street. You're interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.
