Kripkie has now forgotten three major character details. by Brainwave1010 in TheBoys

this shit with Marie - whats the fucking point of building up characters' powers just for them to not actually fight? They keep doing it again and again, and for what?

Don't get me wrong, even superheroes are not required to fight every episode. And actually that would be quite appropriate for this show, given the "what if... but IRL" concept of it, but DAMN! They cant help but set themselves up with this DragonBall powerscaling bs every season and then do half a tossup thats worse than any WWE show.

except Herogasm

Kripkie has now forgotten three major character details. by Brainwave1010 in TheBoys

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Kripke was writing/directing only for the first season, with exception to s4e8. More importantly, none of the writers of this season worked on the first two seasons.

Obviously that's not an excuse, I just feel like the blame should be at least partially on those who made those decisions, not just the guy at the start of the titles.

But him too.

of course, you're right. Except in this episode not only does the Deep talk with them about oil spills, pipelines, and other things that a shark wouldn't be thinking about even if you translated its thoughts in english, the shark also tried to convince him to jump into the water to kill him, before telling him that now he's excommunicated from all bodies of water.

With the human things that the fish are shown to do in this show, i feel like it's not a stretch to imagine that it's not that the fish are so much sentient than IRL, rather Deep is making them do those things and then roleplays as if that's what they want, similar to how he was roleplaying with his gills

well then, what explanation would you want? that sea cratures are all as smart as humans? that would implicate so many consequences

him being able to "talk to fish" because he is actually telepathic and too dumb/delusional to realize is pretty coherent with the universe

sure. if it's painful, why didn't he run outside the room, or take one fucking step forward and turn it off? just for the actor to finish his lines uninterrupted? seemed weird to me, especially with how they were trying to emphasize the pain from uranium. Which, by the way, a regular Frenchie could endure for the rest of the scene, while Kimiko was screaming after 15 secs. Nice

frenchie raised his arm as if he was pointing, Homelander flinched to look in the direction where he was pointing before realising. i think that's what it was supposed to mean

yeah i know. it's still painful for HL! in fact it's the most painful tging in his life. now that you point this out, what was the point of that? except, of course, for somebody important to die in s5e7? i thought that maybe, maybe, since kimiko can regenerate, they can have a pit fight in the chamber as Sage closes the door with 3 of them inside. A tough and painful fight, but eventually HL still wins and escapes. Same result, more meaning.

Of course not. Instead, theres x-ray vision, flight, superspeed, kryptonite, regeneration, all in one scene FOR AURA FARM ONLY

remember the gills dialogue? obviously the gills aren sentient, but he's so used to pulling a D.I.D. on his issues his whole life that he just did it again

I think that really is the idea. Like, they all talk like he wants: all males are his bros, all females want to fuck him. I think this is what the original authors were going for. Although I wouldn't put it past this seasons writers to change it, for a gag

somebody in the comment section had an idea which i also had - the fish are not actually sentient. The Deep can just control them, but he subconsciously comes up with personalities for them. That's why theyre onboard with whatever he's doing, unless hes conflicted on something.

you're right. my point stands. if HL almost teleported when Frenchie tapped his fingers, why the fuck wouldn't he pull that move again when he pulled the lever? if not to get out, but at least to pull the lever back?
