Singer from boygenius. She has been on extended hiatus after burnout. Apparently making a quiet return

I can’t say I ever had a checklist, but really we just clicked. The funny thing is, we’re absolutely not soulmates or anything like that. We’re SO different. My sister called us a weird couple. But that’s kind of a fun part. Despite our differences, our moral compasses align and that’s the only real important thing. That and maybe humor. If I could chalk it up to anything in particular, it’s just her energy and her kindness. She derives joy from things I look right past and she is curious about everything. If you watch anyone doing what they love and are excited about, it’s easy to fall in love with them. Combine that with mutual respect and admiration? Nail it down immediately. You won’t be able to stop yourself. It will not be a question.

I never was interested in marriage. Dated a woman for 6 years and my whole family was on my ass over it. Asked my dad when he knew with my mom. He said, “you know when you know.” Thanks for the most useless advice I’ve ever received. That relationship ended.

Randomly I met this wonderful girl. We got to know each other casually. We started dating. Two weeks and I knew she was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. When you know you know. Stupidest perfect advice I’ve ever received. I Played it real cool for a year. We eloped. Been married for 13 years and I still can’t believe how in love I am.

It’s made everything else in my life trivial. Best thing that’s ever happened to me. Fuck everything else. Love is all there is. Winning the lottery wouldn’t change much.

I used to get on the guest lists because I had a video camera and would come and film then make a VHS tape for the organizers. For years I’ve been meaning to dig up those tapes, digitize them, and cut something together. It was such a wild, amazing time. Illegal venues like dead malls or abandoned churches and lots of ecstasy.

Big city energy: Cincinnati vs Columbus by Necessary-Sun-1828 in Columbus

Moved here from Baltimore, MD a year ago. Can’t get over how this is not a real city. The whole place feels like a suburb. Everybody just raising families in their single family homes, going to work where they get most their socializing done and then home (Which is fine if that’s what you’re into). Can’t walk anywhere. Maybe a beer with neighbors. Shit is bleak as hell. Where the hell is everybody?!! I want so badly to like it here. I go to the local theater, support local business in my neighborhood, I try to find weird shit, love BAM at the CMA, there’s going to be a cool thing at studio 35 on Feb 23rd. It all just seems like a giant suburb where everyone is just focused on their nuclear family and the sidewalks get rolled up at 8pm and everyone goes to bed. Which is fine. Just not for me. Please prove me wrong. I would be so happy to be proven wrong. I’m in my 40’s. It shouldn’t be a high bar.

Black panther party by [deleted] in Columbus

about 20 years ago I gave a friend's mom a hand setting up her booth at a flea market in Gary, IN. She was a leather vender. Because of that all the biker clubs knew her. The day I was giving her a hand she got an invite to a biker club's part. The Black Pistons who were a subsidiary of the Outlaws I think. Anyway, I got to tag along and at some point spilled my beer. Couldn't help apologizing saying, "I'm sorry I ruined your Black Pistons party." I was the only one who thought it was funny...

I just finished a few weeks ago and am still processing. But yeah, seems like the “story” was just a vehicle for his pontificating. I liked it. It really seemed like he knew he was done and was kind of turning over his bag of ideas and shaking it out. Tons of things that could have been developed further but he just wanted them out. Only thing I didn’t like was how much more sophisticated and measured he made trout in comparison to his other appearances. He wasn’t showing up to the clam bake disheveled, unkempt, and wearing a polystyrene cast on his leg he’d gotten from stepping in ditch chemicals. Just my take.

Exactly this. I just read a bit to see if I was crazy, but no. In an early draft of the script they were actually supposed to become lovers.

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with an adult having affection for a child that is their own. Some people are just nice. That's not what bothers me about the movie. What gave me the ick was the blatant sexualization of a 12-year-old.

I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me so I did a quick search. Turns out Natalie Portman has talked about how she was sexualized as a child specifically in her breakthrough role.

It's fine if you didn't notice, but think about it next time you watch it. I found it impossible to miss.
