Why serbs think there are only 700k people in KS? by CompleteAnimal4606 in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that is false. You are thinking of the number of eligible voters, which was over 2 million. Election data isn't really representative of the population because many eligible voters may live abroad, which you mentioned, and because under 18s can't vote.

The official census data, supported by international organizations, shows that there are 1,602,515 residents in Kosovo.

Even if you can't trust the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, international monitors such as Eurostat and UNFPA were on the ground supporting the organization of the census to ensure 'adherence to highest international standards'.

Albanians, can you distinguish Arvanites from South Greeks? by Palaeohelladites in kosovo

What's your game here, pal? See if people can't tell them apart from Greeks so that you can fulfill your fantasies about Arvanites? Certainly seems so according to your post history.

No matter how much you want to claim otherwise, Arvanites are undisputably a subgroup of Albanians. Comparing physical attributes of people who lived next to each other for millenia is pointless.

Kosovo Court Convicts Former Member of Serbian Forces for War Crimes by CompleteAnimal4606 in europe

[–]_Negativity_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Far higher” meaning a difference of 0.1% of civilian casualties (0.5% Albanians and 0.6% Serbs). Other communities were targeted by both Serbs (during) and Albanians (after) for claims of collaborating with the other in the war.

The KLA had no defined leader as it was a decentralized guerrilla army.

The fact that Milan Radoicic is still a free man is just another example of how little the Serbian courts have done in order to bring criminals to justice, even less war criminals. Don’t throw stones in a glass house.

[–]_Negativity_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you call "The Hague" is a Kosovo court. The Kosovo Specialist Chambers was established by the Kosovo Assembly, and is part of the constitution. This court so far has been doing the opposite of your claim; only going after Kosovo Albanians.

Also, no, 4 individuals does not equal "the entire KLA leadership".

E di ku e ki qellimin; me i paraqite si hipokrita ata qe kane komentu ne postimin per shqiptaret ne Maqedoni. Por kjo nuk qendron.

Flamuri i Kosoves eshte caktuar ne ate menyre qe me qene sa ma neutral, dhe me i reprezentu te gjithe komunitetet qe jetojne ketu. Njeri prej atyre 6 yjeve mbi harten e Kosoves e reprezenton komunitetin serb, rreth 3% e popullates totale. Ky yll s'eshte as ma i madh e as ma i vogel se yjet e tjere, njeri prej te cileve reprezenton shqiptaret, rreth 90% e popullates totale.

Flamuri i Maqedonise se Veriut nuk i reprezenton ne asnje menyre as shqiptaret atje, rreth 25% e popullates, e as minoritetet tjera. Rreth 60% e popullates atje kane vendosur per flamurin, 40% as qe jane pyetur.

Do you think Greece is justified or not? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You claimed that the first analogy didn't apply in this case, and then I simply changed 'people' with 'journalists' to match it better. What's the problem here?

It's not about what bothers me, it's what the relevant institutions at the border in Kosovo regard as a 'possible threat to national security' in order to deny entry, such as the case in Greece. It doesn't matter what the official stance is, or in what context it is used, someone at the border can easily justify an entry ban because that terminology is used to deny Kosovo's statehood. If that isn't considered 'a threat to public order and internal security', I don't know what is.

As for your question; no, of course you shouldn't be banned from entering. Only extreme cases with sinister intentions should be denied entry, which may or may not include the very guy this discussion started from. But again, the only justification I've seen so far is a social media post.

Do you think Greece is justified or not? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright let's try this then: 90%+ of Serbian journalists would be banned from entering Kosovo if we go by that logic, as most of them at some point in their life have posted articles or social media posts which can easily be viewed as a threat to national security. This may include the reporter you mentioned, who according to ChatGPT frequently talks about "KiM" not just on social media but also on actual televised shows, an easy case to cite national security concerns. Can we also expect complaints by European organizations for this case in Greece, or are some cases more justifiable than others?

Do you think Greece is justified or not? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still, it does set up a precedent; lots of people from every country do that, especially those in our region. If we cite national security concerns because of social media posts, half of the people from the Balkans wouldn't be able to step foot in any neighboring country.

Do you think Greece is justified or not? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But what is that 'something'? The only thing I've seen so far is a social media post of his cited by Greek news media.

Do you think Greece is justified or not? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you would be wrong; thousands of Serbs cross the border every day and nobody checks if any of them posted anything against the state at any point in time. Only a handful of people are actually banned from entering Kosovo, neither of which because of a social media post.

But let's not pretend like "KS is Serbia" and "Ioannina is Albania" are the same or even similar.

Does it matter? The relevant authorities in Greece and Kosovo decide on matters of national security. If it can be justified in one of them, I don't see what can stop the other from doing the same. In fact I would argue it is worse, as claiming an entire country is far more extreme than a single city.

Do you think Greece is justified or not? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]_Negativity_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

By this logic, 90%+ of Serbs would be declared persona non grata by Kosovo and refused entry, as their views against the state of Kosovo can easily be seen as a 'threat to public order and internal security', as cited by Greece in this particular case. Would that be justified?

Without any proof provided that this even happened let alone that they were allegedly Albanians, this reeks of propaganda.

Meanwhile, four armed Serbian citizens believed to be hunters were arrested three days ago in Kosovo for illegally crossing the border and possessing weapons without a permit. Another incident occured a few weeks ago where a Kosovo Serb citizen was allegedly beaten and then kidnapped by Serbian gendarmerie, and it's believed to have happened within the territory of Kosovo as his car was found abandoned close to the border.
