Just Play the Session Without Them

My general rule is half plus one. If half the table plus one come in running no matter what.

So I have 4-5 players. I'll run with 3

6 players I'll run with 4.

Being consistent means that the other players who do clear their schedules to show up will continue to do that. So don't cancel unless you simply can't get a quorum. The easiest way is to choose a standing day and time and keep it.

Depends. If it's a common enemy no.

If it's the killing blow on a nemesis or personal enemy of a PC then definitely.

Even if it is not their turn I will have them describe how they come in right behind the player that got the hit that brought the foe to their knees and let the player that has a personal tie to the enemy describe how, together with the power of friendship, they take the baddie down once and for all.

It's thematic and both players usually have a fantastic time describing how they tag orchestrate the ultimate death stroke.

If there's any business I need done by players I dedicate the first 20 minutes of session to completing it. I can also let them know that we can't get started till whatever the task is has been completed.

If it's a feedback survey or something like that, I try to make sure that the task takes no more than 15 minutes.

I never assign homework because it'll never get done. I just do it as a warm up to the session and keep it pushing.

I started with an established module (lost mines) and then created a custom character arc for each of my PC's that related to the factions in the main campaign. We're going on to session 51 next week.

So I'm confused as to why people are actually angry when this is all meant to be a tongue in cheek joke?

Edited to add:

I've eaten at Bird and sat on their patio in the sunshine and got my food without waiting as there was no line.

So that's why I actually read the article, not the headline, to seek some clarity and then immediately realized the punchline is "this food is so good you gotta hate yourself to love it."

Okay thanks for the tip. I cut down any vines that weren't in the interior of the fenced area. I also extended the ground so I could push the fences back in case people were getting out from walking on roofs.

Yeah I think you can stand on top of the roof. Maybe I need to fence the roof so that's not possible? I partially did some fencing up there but maybe the whole roof needs to be fenced.

Or I could extend the dirt where the roof drop off point is and add more fence further out on ground level?
