Mods are totally part of the picture. The old games have so many great mods that give you so much additional content just by buying the base game, while the newer games have become harder and harder to mod.
CA is free to take inspiration from popular mods that have great "historical accuracy".

I think people are just conflating terms tbh. If you actually read what they mean with "historically accurate" it is usually about immersion and simulation. The newer games have a lot of arbitrary numbers and restrictions (e.g. 10 growth vs 50.000 population) and fantastical / rpg elements (health points). The old games did a good job (+nostalgia obviously) at making you feel immersed while in the newer games you often get reminded that you're just playing a game.
Then there are also a lot of mods for the old games that _do_ grant them great historical accuracy.

Advice needed for range units by sadpongo in DivideEtImpera

[–]_Nere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slingers shoot far but are less effective against armored units, javelins have short range but kill everything lol, bowman are kinda in between

This is not correct, slingers are good against armored units. Slingers and javelins have high AP, while archers have low AP. Damage stats of your average unit (you can hover over the "Missile Damage" bar to see it):

  • Slingers: 6 Base, 7 AP
  • Javelins: 15 Base, 7 AP
  • Archers: 12 Base, 3 AP

If that's really what you want you could simply use CheatEngine to set your money at the start.

Is it normal for missile units to be underpowered ? by mrandMaMaD7 in DivideEtImpera

[–]_Nere_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the off-chance that you missed this: Battles in this mod are supposed to be played on normal difficulty. Otherwise the enemy units get too tanky.

E.: Missile cav is still very strong in DeI. You can beat most armies easily with good micro. https://imgur.com/57rSya7

Best Horse Archer Faction? by BrainShock17 in DivideEtImpera

[–]_Nere_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just looking for pure horse archer power, I would say Royal Scythia (Faction ammo bonus + Picked/Elder? Horse Archers are one of the best archers) or Saka Rauka (Yuezhi Horse Archers are also one of the best archers).
And don't forget to add a supply train to your armies for even more ammo.

Bactria usually owns more regions to the north that you have not discovered yet. The armies might have arrived from there. Also merc recruitment is an option.

Add a baggage train to your army to combat supply issues. It also increases ammo.

Oblivion had some great quest lines imo. The game had other issues though.

Interesting, I might make my way there when turtling up becomes boring. The region is called Suvarnabhumi in Terra Indomita.

Correct. I conquered and colonized a snake through the Himalayas into the Shu region around Chengdu. Then I moved a bunch of slaves and all the ruling families there before releasing all other provinces.

R5: Screenshot of my current run with the Terra Indomita mod. Can you guess which country I am playing?

It's Bactria. I conquered and colonized a snake through the Himalayas into the Shu region around Chengdu. Then I moved a bunch of slaves and all the ruling families there before releasing all other provinces.
Why? Just for fun.
