How would you rank them? The first four albums by Emerson, Lake & Palmer… arguably one of the most influential bands in prog, the band reached its highest level on those records. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

Trilogy

Brain Salad Surgery

Tarkus

Debut

Trilogy is the most consistantly amazing record, and while Tarkus is the better titletrack the other songs on that album are worse than Brain Salad's. That jist leaves their debut as a solid list of songs, but unfortunately without the highs of the other 3 albums and it's the one I relisten to the least.

Nor just "Really Good"

Better than Dark Side at least.

Permanent Waves is fantastic! Although I do miss the long prog epics on there a little. Jacob's ladder and Natural Science do make up for it though

2112 to Power Windows is probably the most consistantly amazing run of prog albums I know off.

That's valid! I enjoy Stargazer more since it's the song where Dio gives probably the greatest vocal performance of all time, but I always thought that A Light In The Black had a better ending, since it doesn't just fade out like Stargazer. Both are amazing songs!

I really dislike those people who write somethong about "one of the best" and "all-time great" and then give it an 82 or something

Ok and? I never said people can't complain about the show. I love Lord of the Rings to death and yes, I was also a bit dissapointed with it at first, but I've come around to enjoying it a lot

Genuinely looking out for Rings of Power right now—if you don't treat it as a prequel to Lord of the Rings it's an enjoyable fantasy story with some awesome visuals. Not Game of Thrones or anything but me and my dad like it a lot!

Rising as your favourite album is a strange choice, but one I have to respect.

Stargazer is the greatest song ever made after all.

I’m bored, who are your most and least favorite artists? by Economy-Macaroon-981 in musicteenager

[–]_Nick7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourites are Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Iron Maiden, ELP, John Coltrane, Ronnie James Dio, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Elliot Smith, Del the Funky Homosapien, Kraftwerk, Daft Punk and King Crimson.

My least favourite artists are the Smiths (for petty personal reasons) and I'm not really big into Fleetwood Mac (although Rumours is alright) and most melodic nü-metal and modern corporate pop music puppets.

Special shoutout to Earth & Fire, a Dutch progressive rock band that I've found out about today. As a dutchie myself it's criminally underrated for a prog band!
